Former MPs said Tonga could adopt bitcoin as legal tender by November

Lord Fusitu'a, a former mp for Tonga, revealed that the country's Bitcoin fiat currency bill "mimics" El Salvador and is "almost identical" to it. Lord Faustua announced on Twitter that the Pacific island nation of Tonga will try to incorporate Bitcoin as legal tender.

The former mp said the country could officially adopt the cryptocurrency in November this year. The bill will be referred to the House of Representatives from September to October. Lord Faustuya, a member of the Tongan royal family, is reportedly working with Jack Mallers, CEO of digital wallet Strike and designer of the Salvadoran Bitcoin project, to introduce a bitcoin legal framework into Tonga
