Ren Zhengfei was born in Guizhou in 1944, his parents were teachers, and his family background also had a great influence on him. During college, Ren Zhengfei insisted on completing dozens of homework such as electronic computers and automatic control of digital technology.
After graduating from university, he joined the army and joined the infrastructure engineering unit, where he stayed for 14 years, that is, 14 years of military service, which forged his iron will.
In 1982, Ren Zhengfei transferred from the army to work in a state-owned enterprise in Shenzhen. Unexpectedly, in more than a year, he suffered two major blows in his life, because he was cheated of 2 million yuan and was dismissed from the company and his marriage broke down, and his life reached the bottom. The 43-year-old Ren Zhengfei has passed the age of confusion, and the magnitude of the blow is known only to him.
In 1987, after adjustment, he decided to go to the sea to start a business, and he founded Huawei with 21,000 yuan. At the time of the start-up, the company did everything, bought and sold to make a little difference, only for the company to survive.
In 1988, Huawei began to sell switches as an agent, but Ren Zheng, who was dissatisfied with the status quo, decided to develop his own products. In 1990, after completing the recruitment, he began to develop his own products. Every company that has just started to start a business will be extremely hard, and Huawei is the same, eating, working and sleeping together. Finally, in 1993, Huawei independently developed the C&C08 switch, which marked that Huawei had its own technology accumulation. In the following years, in addition to increasing the research and development of technology, Zhonghua also adopted the sales strategy of "rural encirclement of the city", which achieved success and slowly gained a foothold in the market.
In 1996, Huawei launched a campaign: the re-entrepreneurship campaign, in which all employees resigned en masse, passed the re-evaluation, and then rehired to the company. In this campaign, a third of the backbone left Huawei. The campaign was a rebirth for Huawei, experiencing pain and doubt, but it also brought new vitality and passion to the company. Because the old employees who entered the company earlier have a lot of equity, but over time, they enjoy high treatment but do not make matching results, which is also a harm to new employees. Ren Zhengfei said: There is no absolute fairness, and it may be fair to use the Cao Chong method to evaluate the elephant, but it may be unfair to use the balance to evaluate.
In 2000, Huawei was worried about internal and external troubles. In 2000, the technology company and the Internet bubble burst, and the network telecommunications company ushered in a cold winter. At the same time, li Yinan, the vice president of Huawei, who is his most important person, suddenly resigned and left Huawei. In the face of the loss of talent, Huawei has been hit again, stemming from Ren Zhengfei's misjudgment. Once popular PHS, Ren Zhengfei thought that PHS was outdated, so he gave up on the PHS business and specialized in more advanced CDMA2000 technology, but what Ren Zhengfei did not expect was that the PHS business was very hot in China. At the same time, China Unicom did not use Huawei's CDMA2000 technology when bidding. It was hard to raise the chicken, but he could not lay eggs, and Ren Zhengfei was very upset about it, and even suffered from depression. At this moment, Huawei's situation is very embarrassing, there is no way for Huawei to turn to foreign markets, and the process is of course also very difficult.
In 2002 and 2003, Huawei's challenges were even more severe, one was the all-round encirclement and suppression of domestic companies ZTE and the competition in the harbor, and the other was that Huawei moved the cheese of Internet giant Cisco in the offshore market. In order to drive Huawei out of the US market, Cisco sued Huawei for infringing Cisco's intellectual property rights.
Through the efforts of many parties, together with Cisco's sworn enemy 3COM, the contest was resolved with difficulty, and on July 28, 2004, a settlement agreement was finally reached with Cisco.
