An F16V fighter of the Fourth Wing of Taiwan Air Force Chiayi Base suddenly lost its signal while performing a training mission off the coast of Chiayi on the afternoon of 11 July, and fell into the sea for unknown reasons and lost contact. The military immediately formed a project team to search and rescue in the sea area where the incident occurred.

Inspector General Liu Huiqian of Taiwan Air Force Command:

The aircraft was performing ground-to-ground subjects, and it was illuminated without live ammunition, simulating an attack. In the case of a 20-degree angle in the third subject, it is seen that it is shown to fall downward rapidly into the sea.

Taiwan only announced last November that the first combat team to buy a new F16V fighter from the United States had crashed less than two months apart.

According to information provided by the Taiwanese military, the F16V single-seat fighter number where the accident occurred was 6650. At 2:54 p.m., it was piloted by The Flight Officer, Captain Chen, and took off from Chiayi Air Base to conduct ground attack subject training. At 3:23 p.m., in the airspace around the East Stone Water Creek Range, the radar spot corresponding to the accident fighter disappeared.

The aircraft was restructured and shipped on November 12 last year. We also scrutinized the aircraft for the past six months without any flight hazards, air failures, or other duplication of failures.

Taiwan's military said the pilot did not parachute or send a distress message over the radio. As for whether the machine parts are malfunctioning or whether there is a problem with human operation, we must wait until the search and rescue work is over before we can trace the cause.
