The reason for such a serious decline in sales is that the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV have been temporarily suspended due to a large-scale recall of battery failure, and the recent suspension of the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV models due to battery shortages has been extended to the end of February, which will also greatly affect GM's 2022 electric vehicle sales data. Despite extremely low sales in the fourth quarter, GM's overall 2021 sales figures are impressive, reaching 24,828 units, up 19.6 percent year-over-year.
It is reported that in 2022, GM will focus on the development of pure electric vehicle models based on the Ultium platform, including CMC Hummer electric pickup trucks and Hummer's new SUVs, most of which will be officially launched at the end of this year or next year. According to GM's plan, it is expected that around 2025, the annual sales of models created by GM's new pure electric platform will reach 1 million units.
