Tesla announces Texas super energy storage project This winter, Texas is no longer "shutting down"?

Residents of Texas still remember the widespread power outage caused by the extreme weather in February last year, and Tesla may become the insurance that guarantees that Texas will not shut down again this year.

Over the weekend, Tesla officially unveiled its new megamappack-81 super battery pack in Texas on its Youtube channel, with an energy storage capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh, and one of its largest energy storage projects to date.

At the beginning of last year, the project already revealed some clues. As a result of the poor performance of the local power grid in the last crisis, many Texan residents have turned their attention to residential energy storage technology, and even local power companies have begun to explore the technology on a large scale.

Tesla's project, which aims to provide sustainable backup power support for the local grid and mitigate the hazards of the recurrence of extreme weather, contains a total of 81 Megapack super battery packs, which can ensure greater blackout protection while also reducing the dependence of local residents on fossil fuels.

Tesla has been approved as an energy distributor in Texas. There are reports that Musk has been working to make Tesla Energy part of a global utility, and that its energy business may even exceed tesla's car business.

In addition to the Megapack-81 project, Tesla has other energy projects in the local area. Just at its new headquarters in Austin, Tesla is building a new residential area where solar roofs will be deployed "massively", as well as the Powerwalls home energy storage power station.

It is worth mentioning that China Huaneng Group has also achieved full capacity of the self-developed 100 MW/200 MWh independent energy storage power station on December 29 last year, marking the world's first 100 MW decentralized control energy storage power station officially put into operation; and Tesla has also cooperated with the domestic photovoltaic leader LONGi (601012) to use LONGi's photovoltaic products in its Austin super factory.
