The largest bitcoin miner in Texas, USA, shut down before cold air came

On February 3, crypto miner Riot Blockchain shut down most of its large bitcoin production operations in Texas to save electricity. Struck by the strongest cold air since the texas grid crashed last year. Company spokeswoman Trystine Payfer said in an email that the company has taken the initiative to start reducing the use of bitcoin mining servers at the Whisperstone plant, northeast of Austin. As of Wednesday, the mining site's energy consumption had been reduced by about 98 percent. The mining site uses enough electricity for 60,000 households in the state.
