In recent times, the average gasoline price in the United States has repeatedly reached new highs, which has made many car owners miserable. In order to be able to find cheaper gasoline, many Americans have to choose to cross the border and go straight to neighboring Mexico.
In the Mexican border city of Nuevo Laredo, more and more car owners have recently come here from Texas to refuel. Gasoline in New Laredo is understood to be priced at about $3.30 per gallon, equivalent to 5.5 yuan per liter in renminbi, which is at least a quarter cheaper than in neighboring Texas.
The city of Nuevo Laredo was able to maintain low oil prices mainly due to government subsidies and ample crude oil inventories.
Elsewhere in Mexico, things haven't been so lucky. Due to the difficulty of resisting the pressure brought by the rise in international oil prices, oil prices in the capital Mexico City and many surrounding areas have risen to 30 pesos per liter, about 9 yuan, and many car owners said that in the face of high fuel costs, they can only minimize driving.
