The Three Kingdoms Era was an era of heroes in Chinese history, and in other eras, only one person with the ability to "found the country" was born, while the Three Kingdoms Era suddenly appeared three figures who were enough to unify the world: Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Quan, and then there was also a traitor like Sima Yi. However, it is precisely because there are too many heroes in the world, resulting in decades of chaotic wars in the Three Kingdoms and cannot be unified, leaving many stories that can be sung and wept for people.

Influenced by the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, our understanding of the characters of the Three Kingdoms is probably "face-like", such as Guan Yu's loyalty, Liu Bei's benevolence, Cao Cao's treachery, Zhang Fei's bravery, Zhuge Liang's clever calculations, and Liu Chan's fainting incompetence. In fact, this kind of facial character is often divorced from the real history, for example, in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", Cao Cao is written very badly, but Cao Cao has never replaced the Han Dynasty as emperor in his lifetime, and he once evaluated his own merits very objectively:
"If there is no orphan in the world, I don't know how many people will be called kings and how many people will be called emperors?"
In fact, Cao Cao's existence unified the north, provided a stable living environment for the people in the north, and reduced the pain of the people's displacement due to war. From this point of view, why is Cao Cao not a righteous hero? Speaking of Zhuge Liang's miraculous calculations, in fact, Zhuge Liang's moisture can be said to be the most watery in the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", in a word, why is he so clever and clever in the end but did not unify the world? Even he did not contribute much to the expansion of the Territory of the Shu Kingdom.
Another person in the Three Kingdoms who misunderstood more deeply was the later lord Liu Chan. As The son of Liu Bei, Liu Chan lived in the shadow of Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhuge Liang and others, and was the least "shining" figure since he was a child. Because of this, Liu Chan has given people a "weak" image from birth. Later, when Cao Wei attacked the Shu state, Liu Chan surrendered to the State of Wei with the hundred officials of the Shu State, and the generals said, "We are waiting for a death battle, why should we surrender first!" It also confirmed Liu Chan's position as a duanjun.
Because the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" focuses on highlighting the story of the Three Kingdoms period, the story is written until after Zhuge Liang's death, which basically enters the end, giving people the feeling that as soon as Zhuge Liang died, Liu Chan surrendered. In fact, after Zhuge Liang's death, Liu Chan himself independently ruled the Shu kingdom for more than thirty years, longer than Zhuge Liang held the power of the Shu state, and from this point it can also be seen that Liu Chan is definitely not a faint and incompetent person.
As for the surrender of the State of Wei, it was only because he saw that the general trend of the State of Shu had gone, and the people of the State of Shu could not make unnecessary sacrifices for this purpose. The State of Shu was originally located in the middle of nowhere, and Zhuge Liang was in the Northern Expedition year after year, and the State of Shu had long been strong in the outside world. Even if Liu Chan resisted to the end, the final result was nothing more than the death of more innocent people. Therefore, he knew the way to advance and retreat, and he directly chose to surrender.
Not only that, but after the surrender, Liu Chan, as the king of the subjugated country, saved his life, which also followed his foresight to inherit Liu Bei's "mood and anger are not in color", and Sima Zhao, who once held the power of the State of Wei, specially invited him to the banquet in order to test Liu Chan. At the banquet, Sima Zhao specially invited some musicians from the Shu kingdom to sing the music of the Shu kingdom, and then he asked Liu Chan: "Do you miss the Shu kingdom now?" ”
As the saying goes, as the king of the subjugated country, hearing the music of his homeland, how could Liu Chan not miss his hometown? However, as a king of a subjugated country, if he answered Sima Zhao in this way, he would most likely suffer from Sima Zhao's poisonous hands. So after listening to Sima Zhao's words, Liu Chan also ate a large mouthful of roast meat, and then said to Sima Zhao with a smile on his face, "Enjoy here, don't think about Shu." This also makes Liu Chan a joke for eternity.
But would the suspicious Sima Zhao let Liu Chan go because of Liu Chan's words? He didn't, or told people to monitor him to death, ready to kill him as soon as they found the opportunity. Liu Chan knew in his heart that Sima Zhao would definitely target him, so he returned home and hung a plaque on the Luoyang mansion that Sima Zhao had given him, with three big characters: Zhongshan Village. His surveillance men immediately reported the incident to Sima Zhao.
After Hearing this, Sima Zhao said, "There is no need to monitor him, and his capital crime can also be exempted." None of his men understood and asked, "Why?" Sima Zhao told them that you would understand these three words by reading them backwards. It turned out that the three words of "Zhongsanzhai" were pronounced backwards as "in the mountains", indicating that Liu Chan had completely lost his ambition to compete for the world, and he only wanted to live in seclusion in the mountains and spend his cruel years. Therefore, Sima Zhao felt that he was no longer a threat to himself and could avoid death.
Such a witty political language, who can think of ordinary people? Moreover, this could not be said directly to Sima Zhao, but Liu Chan did this perfectly, allowing Sima Zhao to completely let go of his guard against him and live in peace in his old age. It can be seen that Liu Chan is by no means a faint and incompetent person!
