At that time, the government sold the Archives of the Ming and Qing Cabinet Treasury, which were the central archives of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and the government sold these archives to booksellers for 4,000 silver dollars, but the booksellers felt that these archives were not valuable, so they threw the eight thousand sacks of archives aside as waste paper. Later, after Luo Zhenyu, a famous scholar in China, learned of this incident, he spent 12,000 silver dollars to buy these archives back.
Luo Zhenyu felt that money was not the most important thing, but these once true historical records were unique, the only precious existence in the world that had no second share, and it was more important than money. And these sacks contain not only historical materials, but also the memories of this nation, which is of great help for us to understand the real history.
Later, luo Zhenyu also had no choice but to sell these files to Li Shengduo because of financial difficulties, and finally sold them for 16,000 silver dollars. It was not until 1929 that the Institute of History and Linguistics of the Academia Sinica bought these archives from Li Shengduo, costing 18,000 silver dollars, and finally used them for historical research. And this batch of archives, because after many turns, there are some losses, which is a pity. But thankfully, the archives were finally returned to the public, and their value was finally recognized.
