In the 10 years of favor, Concubine Ling gave birth to four men and two girls to Qianlong in a row, and in the ancient times when children represented status, there was no doubt that Concubine Ling's favor for Qianlong was unquestionable.
Unfortunately, however, two of Concubine Ling's four sons died prematurely, and only the fifteenth son of the Emperor and the seventeenth son of the Emperor, Yongxuan, survived to adulthood. Ying Yan was also angry and lucky, and the previous successors who were valued by his father and emperor all died of illness one after another, and he also had the opportunity to become the emperor and became the Jiaqing Emperor. So what kind of treatment did his brother Yong Xuan have?
Yong Xuan was the youngest son of the Qianlong Emperor, and although he was not the most favored one, the Qianlong Emperor was not eccentric and gave him no less concern than other princes. Even after the Jiaqing Emperor ascended the throne, he wrote jealously that his younger brother Yongxuan had mediocre qualifications, but the former emperor always liked to take Yongxuan with him when he toured the province, which made other princes very red-eyed.
It is worth mentioning that not only did Jiaqing think that his brother was mediocre, but in the various texts recorded by the historians, it was also revealed that Qianlong had a headache about YongXuan's failure to learn and have no skills. At that time, the Manchu Qing relied on horses to conquer the world, but after entering the Central Plains, they began to learn the literary etiquette system and promote the Han Dynasty culture. Many princes also won the favor of their fathers through "reading the scriptures".
However, Yong Xuan lacked interest in poetry and books, not only that, but even the Manchu mastery skills of riding, shooting, wrestling, etc., he was not willing to learn. Yong Xuan probably knows the truth of "life is short, and it is fun in time", and he sneaks around all day to have fun, so he is not happy. Qianlong not only did not punish, nor scolded, but also accidentally took this old man out for a sneak.
Yong Xuan had no knowledge, had never made meritorious deeds, and at the age of 23, he was sealed as a Baylor according to the rules. Compared to several other brothers who had been crowned princes or county kings, he seemed very satisfied. In Qianlong's later years, Yong Xuan also had the opportunity to compete for the throne, but when a minister like supporting him asked him, he shook his head and smiled.
In the Miscellaneous Records of the Pavilion, Yong Xuan said: "The world is the most important, how dare he covet, but if he hopes that he will give him a residence in the first day, he will be enough." In the eyes of the ancients, this is simply hopelessly stupid, and it is a dou that cannot be supported, but in the understanding of a modern person, it has tasted a taste of great wisdom and foolishness.
He thought that he could not bear the burden of the emperor, and in the future, any prince would become an emperor, as long as he took care of him, as for his greatest wish in life, he was the residence of the Hezhen family. This word reached the ears of his elder brother Yuanyan, who, after he became the Jiaqing Emperor and actually took power, he really raided the Hezhen family and gave hezhen's mansion to his younger brother.
In fact, for Jiaqing, the most threatening to his throne is his brother. But Yong Xuan has always been pretending to be stupid, as long as hedonic does not want power, as long as the mansion does not love Jiangshan, Jiaqing is naturally very relieved about him. The Draft History of the Qing Dynasty records that YongXuan did several things that did not conform to etiquette and rules, but Jiaqing did not impose heavy punishments.
In 1820, YongXuan became seriously ill in the mansion, and although the Jiaqing Emperor complained that his brother was clumsy, he rushed to visit. In order to rush the joy, yongxuan was also given the title of Prince of Heshuoqing, and of course the miracle did not happen. After his death in that year, Yongxuan was arranged by the Jiaqing Emperor for a large funeral with the courtesy name of 僖.
It can be seen that it is precisely because Yong Xuan is stupid that he can survive in the gloomy and strange palace, and his happy life experience can also be called the textbook of other princes and grandchildren or princes.
