In order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of modern Chinese archaeology and display the achievements of field archaeology and underwater archaeology in Qingdao, the archaeological theme exhibition "Exploring the Source of Qingdao: Exhibition of Archaeological Achievements in Qingdao Area" curated by Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism was grandly opened at the Qingdao Municipal Museum on the morning of January 7, 2022. The exhibition is co-organized by Qingdao Municipal Museum, Qingdao Institute of Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeology, Qingdao District (City) Culture and Tourism Bureau, and co-organized by Licang District, Huangdao District, Jimo District, Pingdu City, Laixi City, Chengyang District, Jiaozhou City Museum, and Jiaoyun Jinshui (Qingdao) Construction and Development Co., Ltd. Zhu Tieyi, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Xin Long, Member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Bureau, and other leaders attended the opening ceremony and jointly cut the ribbon for the opening of the exhibition with the meritorious donors and outstanding volunteer representatives of the Qingdao Municipal Museum. The opening ceremony was presided over by Chen Qi, a first-class researcher of Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.

Xin Long, member of the party group and deputy director of the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, delivered a speech for the opening of the exhibition and expressed congratulations on the successful opening of the exhibition. At the same time, it is pointed out that this exhibition is an innovative practice of transforming the archaeological achievements of Qingdao into an exhibition exhibition, showing Qingdao's unique cultural heritage and clear historical context, and is an effective measure for archaeological achievements to benefit the whole people. It is hoped that in the new year, Qingdao cultural and museum workers can continue to work together to explore a new path of "living utilization" of cultural heritage, and truly "make the cultural relics collected in museums, the heritage displayed on the vast land, and the characters written in ancient books come alive."

Archaeological situation in Qingdao
In order to strengthen the exchange and cooperation between museums in various districts and cities in Qingdao and effectively enhance the display and utilization of archaeological achievements, after the opening ceremony of the exhibition, the leaders and experts of the qingdao Museum Alliance and the Qingdao Institute of Cultural Relics Protection and Archaeology jointly held a symposium with the theme of "Archaeological Discoveries and Achievements display in Qingdao Area". At the meeting, the leaders and experts of various units spoke freely and communicated effectively on the transformation of archaeological achievements in Qingdao in the future and the improvement of the collaborative development between the member units of the Qingdao Museum Alliance.
"Exploring the Source of Qingdao: Exhibition of Archaeological Achievements in Qingdao Area" is divided into three parts: Ren Chong Daoyuan, Ji Yin Suowei and Wenhua Brilliant, starting from combing the development process of archaeological work in Qingdao, introducing the process methods of field archaeology and underwater archaeology, and finally presenting Qingdao's archaeological achievements in recent years as the focus of the exhibition to the audience. In the third part of the exhibition, the historical and cultural features of Qingdao are intuitively displayed with archaeological sites and excavated cultural relics on the axis of time. The exhibition displays a total of more than 160 pieces/sets of cultural relics excavated from archaeological excavations in Qingdao, and introduces nearly 30 archaeological sites in Qingdao, dating from the Paleolithic era to the Ming and Qing dynasties, spanning 50,000-60,000 years. The construction of real archaeological scenes in the exhibition hall, the rich interactive exhibition projects, and the upcoming virtual exhibition hall, H5 micro-exhibition and other online exhibition forms, effectively provide the audience with an archaeological theme cultural feast at the beginning of the New Year.
In the course of Qingdao's nearly 100 years of archaeological development, after several generations of archaeologists, the historical development of Qingdao has gradually become clear, and the historical and cultural features have gradually emerged. Qingdao was born from the sea and prospered with the sea, and its unique marine civilization has witnessed the history of China's tens of thousands of years of south-to-north travel. In this exhibition, we review and sort out the archaeological achievements in Qingdao, deeply analyze the ancient historical and cultural connotation of Qingdao, dig deep into the factors of marine culture, and accumulate strong momentum for building Qingdao into an international marine city at an early date and promoting the development of Qingdao's urban marine economy with profound marine cultural heritage.
