The Imperial Tomb is the mausoleum of the Emperor and his relatives.
The emperor is noble, ordained by heaven, a true dragon heavenly son, and enjoys many privileges. The emperor's speech is not called talking, it is called the holy will; the emperor's body is not called the body, it is called the dragon body; the emperor's opening is not called me, it is called yuan; the emperor is happy, called long yan dayue; the emperor is sick, called the dragon body is not safe; the emperor's bed is also very high and very tall, called Linxing, favored. Even if the emperor kicks his legs, he will not call death, but he will die.
The emperor lives and kills, is absurd and shameless, is extremely rich and extravagant, and is incomparably glorious and immortal when he dies. When mortals die, dig a pit and bury it; if they encounter a famine year, they use a roll of grass mats and throw them to the side of the road to feed the dogs.
The emperor can't do it, the emperor feeds the dog, and the dog doesn't dare to eat. The dog trembled when he saw his legs, because it wasn't a man, it was a dragon.
So the emperor died, not only to hold a national mourning, to hold a solemn funeral, but also to build a large-scale mausoleum. Some emperors began to build mausoleums as soon as they came out of their mother's belly, and they did not finish repairing them until they died. It can be seen that the mausoleum is more luxurious than the emperor's palace.

In the past, people were superstitious, believing that when people died, the body was gone, the soul was still there, and the emperor was even more dead. Therefore, when the emperor dies, he must also be happy and enjoy all the glory. Therefore, when the emperor dies, he must do his utmost to luxury, get countless rare treasures, and have beautiful women to be buried and accompanied.
The system of burial continued intermittently for more than two thousand years, and by the time of Emperor Ming Yingzong, it was abolished. After the Qing Dynasty entered the customs, it was revived, and it was only terminated by the Kangxi Dynasty.
Whether there are women in the imperial tomb or not, gold and silver jewelry are endless. Therefore, the theft of the imperial tomb has also become a shortcut for ancient and modern lawbreakers to take risks to get rich, and the imperial tomb has also created a batch of millionaires.
In this way, the emperor was very entangled in his heart, and when he died, he wanted to accompany the burial casually, but after death, he was afraid of robbing the tomb. To this end, the emperors racked their brains to prevent tomb robbery.
Some emperors built on the riverbed, and before construction, they diverted the river to intercept the flow, repaired it and then restored the river, which was not safe, and finally killed all the craftsmen involved in the construction. Still, graves would be found, sparrows would fly over, and there would be no signs, not to mention how many years so many people had been tossing and turning there. Besides, if those who know about it are killed, those who participate in the silence will not be unaware, and whoever comes to extinguish their mouths will not be personally taken by the emperor.
There are also emperors who have built dozens of fake tombs to protect the real tombs with false chaos. But it can't stand the long years, and the persistent generations of tomb robbers steal one by one.
Many emperors have set up many secret organs in the mausoleum, but as long as the former servants follow, the organs will always fail. Therefore, the safest thing is to send someone to guard it, so the profession of guarding the mausoleum was born.
When a dynasty is under normal rule, the state finances have money, and it is not a problem to send how many people are sent to guard it. Moreover, the tomb robbers are all cockroach thieves who cannot see the sun, sneaky, do not dare to be upright, and dare not arm the tomb robbers. So, a small force can be sent symbolically.
When a dynasty was prosperous, the matter of guarding the mausoleum was easy to say, and no one dared to move the earth on the emperor's mausoleum. However, when a dynasty ended, the tombs of the previous dynasty were either dug up in advance by the rebels, or sent to be planed by later conquerors, or patronized by tomb robbers.
After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China produced a tomb robber, and this tomb robber was the most influential tomb robber in history, the great warlord Sun Dianying. July 1928. Because the great warlord Sun Dianying had no military expenses, the troops could not open the pot. I don't know who came up with the idea, but I remembered stealing Tanglin. As soon as Sun Dianying gave the order, the heavily armed soldiers went straight to Tanglin and took the life of Lafayette Cixi, and even ripped off Cixi's pants, because they heard that people's underwear was woven of gold wire.
During the reign of the Qing Dynasty, for the Three Tombs of Guanwai and the Eastern and Western Tombs, there are imperial tomb protection programs and tomb keepers, the Three Tombs outside the Guanwai are the farthest from the capital, and there is also a special organization called "Sanling Prime Minister's Affairs Yamen" to properly protect it, and the management of the tomb is generally held by the children of the royal family, this part of the royal children may be excluded due to mistakes or other reasons, assigned to this kind of work, although far from the central power of the imperial court, at least far from right and wrong, and have a stable salary to ensure that daily life is worry-free.
After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the republic of China's preferential provisions of the silver and silver two often cut off supply, the cost of the imperial family in the capital was greatly saved, the imperial tomb management personnel everywhere were cut off, and the people's hearts were unstable. If the team is stable, Sun Dianying will not be so bold.
After the Cixi tomb robbery incident, public opinion at home and abroad was in an uproar. The manchu qing widows and descendants of Cixi cried out in domestic and foreign newspapers and complained in blood and tears.
It is said that the earth is safe, and the deceased is great. Although the Manchu Rulers did all the bad things in the early days, the abdication of the qing emperor in the end was in line with the trend of historical development, did not cause large-scale casualties, and Chinese also had a moral bottom line, and could not disturb the violation of the dead. Therefore, under the pressure of public opinion, the National Government announced that it would send people to guard the imperial tomb. The number of people guarding the imperial tomb is about 150, and the guards are partly transferred from the army, and part of them recruit local farmers (many of whom are also ancestral tomb keepers), so as to supervise and check each other. Their salaries are the responsibility of the national government, 10 oceans per month, equivalent to a long salary level. Each tomb keeper also has a living allowance, and there are benefits for the New Year's Festival.
In addition to the government-funded and recruited tomb keepers, there are also many descendants of former tomb keepers around the mausoleum, who have long lived here and multiplied for a hundred years, in order to maintain the dignity of the ancestors, they take turns to guard here at their own expense, which is also the legacy of the ancestors.
After the founding of New China, in order to protect cultural relics and monuments, under the personal arrangement of Premier Zhou Enlai, the State Council specially set up the Tang Dynasty Emperor's Mausoleum Protection Agency- the Tanglin Cultural Relics Depository, which guarded the imperial tombs while also repairing and maintaining each mausoleum.
On March 4, 1961, the Qing Tombs were included in the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. After the reform and opening up, the Qing Dongling Cultural Relics Depository was also upgraded to the Qing Dongling Cultural Relics Management Office. The institution is a public institution, and the people who work here are naturally all career establishments, and the wages are borne by the state finance.
