In this extremely short and challenging era, as long as the ability is outstanding, it will eventually leave dazzling deeds on the big stage of the Three Kingdoms.
In this article, we discuss Wei Yan of the Three Kingdoms, how strong is he relative to Xu Huang and Zhang Liao? The following are my personal opinions.
Wei Yan, as a general in the late Shu Han Dynasty, was deeply trusted by Liu Bei, although in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Zhuge Liang repeatedly emphasized that Wei Yan had a backbone, and killed Han Xuan at Wei Yan and rescued Huang Zhong. When Wei Yan and Huang Zhong defected to Liu Bei together, Zhuge Liang kept stressing that he wanted to kill Wei Yan. In fact, in the final analysis, it was because Wei Yan had an attitude of thinking about martial arts.
That is to say, Wei Yan's life goal must be consistent with his leader's life goal, otherwise he is likely to kill his own leader, which is quite frightening for Zhuge Liang, who has always been cautious. If Wei Yan thought about it a little more, then his lord would not suffer, perhaps this is why Zhuge Liang has always emphasized in his speech that he wants to kill Wei Yan.
Let's talk about Xu Huang first.
Xu Huang was one of the five sons of Cao Cao's camp. In Cao Cao's camp, he was a major general, but in Mr. Luo Guanzhong's speech, Xu Huang in the first half of the paragraph had nothing to say about his character or ability. Perhaps it is because of the influence of the main idea of "supporting Liu and opposing Cao".
Xu Huang's military strength is still there, and he was once evaluated by Cao Cao as "quite a Zhou Yafu style". The origin of this remark is entirely because Xu Huang's army is strictly orderly, military discipline is strict, and its combat effectiveness is also very strong. At that time, the Zhou Yafu Xiaoliu camp of the Western Han Dynasty was because of military discipline that emperor Jing of Han made a decision to cut the domain, thus quelling the rebellion of the Seven Kingdoms.
In the course of Xu Huang's battle, the most classic belonged to Fancheng to break the siege, during which Guan Yu's army was defeated. But this does not mean that Xu Huang's personal combat effectiveness is necessarily stronger than Guan Yu's. As early as when Guan Yu surrendered to Cao Cao in Xia Pi, there was an incident that could completely prove Xu Huang's ability, when Xu Huang and Wen Ugly dueled, they could not defeat Wen Ugly, and as soon as Guan Yu arrived, he came up and killed Wen Ugly with a knife. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms describes:
Wen Ugly returned to the horse, and Xu Huang hurriedly took a big axe and intercepted the fight. Only to see that the military horses behind Wen Ugly arrived, and the enemy could not be shaken, and the horses returned. ...... Nai Guan Yun Changye, and Wen Ugly, the war is not three, and Wen Ugly is timid. Guan Gongma was fast, caught up with Wen Ugly, and with a knife in the back of his head, he cut Wen Ugly off the horse.
That is to say, Guan Yu only took less than three rounds, easily killing Wen Ugly, but Xu Huang could not beat Wen Ugly. But this is not to say that Xu Huang's ability is not good. It can be said that there is courage and strategy, and the military ability is outstanding, otherwise it is impossible to successfully relieve the crisis in Fancheng before cao Cao's army arrives.
Zhang Liao was originally Lü Bu's subordinate, but after Lü Bu's death.
Zhang Liao turned to Cao Cao and was ranked first among Cao Cao's five sons. Its strength and military ability, in addition to Sima Yi, are unique in Cao Wei. The most famous thing about his life is that "Zhang Liaowei Zhen Xiaoyaojin" almost changed the history of the Three Kingdoms. Sun Quan was almost caught by Zhang Liao. Zhang Liao's "Battle of Hefei, Wei Zhen Jiangdong" was enough to see Zhang Liao's military ability, and they all won absolute victories.
At the same time, in terms of his military strength, Zhang Liao was once the head of lü Bu's "eight jian generals". Its combat effectiveness can rank first under Lü Bu, a fierce general. First of all, we must let Lü Bu recognize, then Zhang Liao's strength is certainly not low. Think of the same level of gao shun can understand.
What about Wei Yan? Compared with the first two people, what was Wei Yan's military strength and combat ability?
I have to say that Wei Yan's after turning to Liu Bei was indeed valued by Liu Bei. From the beginning of the Yamen general, to the later Hanzhong Taishou, by the time Liu Bei became emperor, Wei Yan was already a general of Zhenbei, so much so that he was later promoted to the title of Marquis. It can be seen that after Liu Bei's death, Zhuge Liang's official position towards Wei Yan was constantly improving.
As far as combat effectiveness was concerned, in the rendition, wei Yan could easily withdraw from the battle in the initial confrontation with Wen Ping. Wen Ping was the lord of Jingzhou, liu Jingsheng's general, and the military of Jingzhou had to rely on the general of Wen Ping, and later Jingzhou changed hands and turned to Cao Cao. He also killed Cao Wei's pioneer Wang Shuang and so on.
However, in terms of military ability, I personally think that Wei Yanguanyu's military strategy is slightly lacking. For example, the Meridian Valley Plot, Wei Yan wanted to emulate Han Xin of that year and win with a strange army. However, at this time, Cao Wei was not the Zhang Handan of that year, at this time and at another time.
Another point that showed Wei Yan's lack of ability was that for the generals, they had to endure things that ordinary people could not tolerate. If it is only the courage of the puppeteer, it will not be able to achieve great things in the end. Compared with Xu Huang and Zhang Liao, Wei Yan was still a little worse. Although brave, in the end there were no substantive achievements.
This is a good example from Wei Yan's murder. Can't handle the relationship with the opponent well, and eventually harms himself. At this point, I personally believe that Wei Yan's force is still OK, but if he has military talent, he is generally unremarkable. There are many ideas, but there is nothing practical about it.
