Compared with the words used by modern people, the taste of the words used in the Old Book of Tang can be said to be quite heavy, of course, the meaning expressed is certainly not the scene of the emotion that appears in the brain hole of our modern people. Li Shimin used this passage to express the feelings of a monarch and a vassal between himself and Chu Suiliang.
Chu Suiliang did not have an ordinary relationship with Li Shimin, as early as the first year of Tang Wude (618 AD), at the beginning of the establishment of the Tang Dynasty, Chu Suiliang became Li Shimin's aide. Although Chu Suiliang did not participate in the "Xuanwumen Revolution", but later on how this coup should be recorded in the history books, there was a "benign interaction" between Chu Suiliang, who was responsible for recording the emperor's living record, and Li Shimin agreed to break the old system and agreed that Li Shimin could view and modify his own living record, thus tampering with the early historical record of the Tang Dynasty and establishing a perfect image of "one emperor throughout the ages" for Li Shimin.

As for why Li Shimin had to evaluate Chu Suiliang in front of the eldest grandson, it was because the Li Tang Dynasty at that time was in the midst of a princely crisis. Originally, he was dissatisfied with the crown prince Li Chengqian, and later the crown prince Li Chengqian discovered that his father intended to pass the throne to Li Tai, the king of Wei, so he plotted to force the palace, and was deposed after the incident. Then Li Tai, the king of Wei, pretended to promise his father that after he became emperor, once he died, he would pass the throne to his younger brother Li Zhi. This was known to Chu Suiliang, who directly said that Li Tai was hypocritical in front of the emperor. Later, Li Shimin, together with the eldest grandson Wuji, Chu Suiliang, and others, determined the position of Li Zhi's heir.
After this incident, there was another storm, and Li Shimin almost changed his mind to change Li Zhi, but fortunately the eldest grandson was painstakingly persuaded to stop. After the two crown prince storms, Li Shimin realized that only these old courtiers and heavy courtiers dared to speak out on the most sensitive matters of the royal family, and their loyalty was evident from this. Li Shimin sighed for a moment, and commented on these heroes under him one by one in front of the eldest son Wuji, which was exactly the same as his purpose of establishing the Ling Yan Pavilion.
