Honda's clock travels back 20 years and can't be repaired

Honda and Acura owners reported that their clocks and calendars were stuck at a time in 2002 jalopnik.com. Honda said it was investigating and if it didn't find a fix, the clock should correct itself sometime in August. This may be caused by the GPS of the equipped navigation system. One user noticed that its GPS date was set to May 19, 2002, a full 1,024 weeks in the past. GPS measures time from an epoch and then broadcasts a number representing a week, up to a maximum of 1024, and rolls back after reaching the maximum value every 19.6 years. Although the last rollback was April 6, 2019, it is possible that the Honda car's GPS increased by an offset, resulting in a rollback in the first week of 2022.

Lao Wang's comments: Although the millennium worm problem has been well known, there are still careless programmers who always have various overflow problems.

Chatbots are still stupid

50 years ago, AI experts predicted that within a few years there would be "universal intelligent machines on the level of ordinary humans," but they didn't. The fundamental obstacle mindmatters.ai is that while computer algorithms are indeed very good at recognizing statistical patterns, they don't know what those patterns mean. Large language models (LLMs) may be statistically driven. Conversations with Google's most advanced chatbot, LaMDA, are impressive, very human-like, but they're nothing more than "fluent nonsense blowouts" or "random parrots."

Lao Wang comment: These chatbots just know how to answer "should", but they don't actually know what to say.

British police seized more than $400 million in bitcoin

Lao Wang commented: This is more than the seizure of ordinary criminal violations, and the police are more motivated.
