Zhu Qizhan (May 27, 1892 - April 20, 1996), male, Han nationality, native of Taicang, Jiangsu, born in 1892, began copying ancient paintings at the age of eight, went to Japan twice to study oil painting in middle age, and mainly focused on Chinese painting after the fifties. Zhu Qizhan is a famous birthday painter in mainland China, a generation of grandmasters in the painting world, his works integrate Chinese and Western, committed to innovation, and his brushwork is vigorous and magnificent, with distinctive national characteristics and personal style.

Zhu Qizhan, known as Zengjun, known as Qizai, also known as Erzai Lao Min, Zhai Ming Plum Blossom Thatched Cottage, Habit Siju, etc., is a famous birthday painter in the mainland, and a generation of grandmasters in the painting world. He used to be the executive director of the Chinese Artists Association, the Chinese Calligraphers Association, the Shanghai Artists Association, and the consultant of the Xiling Seal Society. Since childhood, Zhu Qizhan has twice gone to Japan to study oil painting and art education, and at the age of 27, his oil painting participated in the first Suzhou Art Painting Competition. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhu Qizhan was hired as a librarian at the Shanghai Museum of Culture and History, and later as a painter at the Shanghai Academy of Chinese Painting. Since then, he has gone to other places many times to sketch and create, held personal exhibitions, and became a famous master of Chinese painting in the mainland. Zhu Qizhan's painting style is old and spicy, self-contained. He is the author <朱屺瞻画集>of many works, such as "Discussion on the Painting of Zhu Qizhan" and "Selected Paintings of Zhu Qizhan", and his works have been collected by many museums and art galleries at home and abroad. In 1995, the Shanghai Municipal Government built the Zhu Qizhan Art Museum in the Hongkou Office.

Zhu Qizhan loved plum blossoms all his life. During the Anti-Japanese War, the old house of Liuhe was burned down by the Japanese army, and the new house was full of bullet holes, so the rest of the old house was demolished, the new house was repaired, and the Japanese bomb crater was dug as an "iron egg pool", plum blossoms were planted all over the soil slope by the pool, and the title of his residence was called "plum blossom thatched cottage", and he called himself "the owner of plum blossom thatched cottage". In 1936, Zhu Qizhan invited Pan Tianshou, Jiang Danshu, Jin Weijian, Wu Fuzhi, and Zhang Zhenduo to the Liuhe Plum Blossom Thatched Cottage Elegant Collection, reciting poems and paintings, discussing art affairs, and gathering for a few days before dispersing. Later, it collected the plum blossom thatched cottage map made by Wang Yiting, Qi Baishi, Huang Binhong, Wu Hufan, He Tianjian, Ding Fuzhi, etc., and collected them into a huge volume. In 1991, when Zhu Qizhan was 100 years old, the hometown government rebuilt the "Plum Blossom Thatched Cottage" in his former residence, which consisted of five rooms in one courtyard, divided into exhibition halls, painting studios, and meeting rooms. To this end, Zhu Qizhan presented six masterpieces to the plum blossom cottage, such as "Spring Breeze New Purple Orchid Buds", "Old Dry Horizontal Color Like Iron", and "Streams and Mountains After the Rain".
