The 7th generation of Qualcomm AI engine includes ultra-high-performance, ultra-energy-efficient Hexagon processors, which have increased tensor accelerator performance and shared memory capacity by 2 times compared with the previous generation, and the overall AI performance has increased by 4 times compared with the previous generation platform. Not only that, but the combination of hardware and software also brings a 1.7 times energy efficiency improvement.

The 7th Generation Qualcomm AI Engine also includes the 3rd Generation Qualcomm Sensor Hub, which is equipped with a new low-power AI subsystem. The system uses a multi-core architecture consisting of a dedicated AI processor, DSP, and own memory to process contextual data streams including speech, audio, sensors, and connectivity. Compared with the previous generation, the AI processor has 75% higher AI performance and 50% lower power consumption. It supports long-running features that users love, such as voice assistants, activity detection, and environmental understanding.
Based on the above features, the new generation of Snapdragon 8 mobile platform has a fourth independent ISP in addition to the Spectra ISP, that is, a low-power intelligent perception ISP.
