First, turn to Sun Ce
Zhou Tai was a native of Jiujiang County, so he was a fellow villager with Jiang Qin and followed Sun Ce with him. Zhou Tai was humble and courteous, and was very respectful to Sun Ce and Sun Quan's brothers, so he was very popular with them. In the second year of Xingping (195), Sun Ce broke away from Yuan Shu and crossed the river to conquer Jiangdong. As a result, Zhou Tai accompanied Sun Ceping to other places, and repeatedly made military achievements, and was promoted to Sima of other departments. Sun Ce then ordered Sun Quan to guard the place, so he asked his brother Sun Ce to come to Zhou Tai and let him guard him.
Second, try to save Sun Quan
Plotting against the mountain thieves in the six counties, the right to live in Xuancheng, the envoys defended themselves, not a thousand people, Yi Shang ignored, did not rule the siege, and the mountain thieves thousands of people died. The right begins with the horse, and the blade of the thief has been handed over to the left and right, or in the saddle, and the crowd cannot decide for themselves. However, Tai was excited, devoted himself to defending the power, and had the courage to be doubled, and around Yu Tai could fight. The thief disbanded, and his body was wounded by the twelve, and the good beggar was Su. It is a day without a day, and the power is in danger. Deep virtue, make up for the spring valley long. In the second year of Jian'an (197), Yuan Shu was very dissatisfied with Sun Ce's blatant opposition to him, so he instigated powerful rebellions in various parts of Jiangdong to oppose Sun Ce. Sun Ce then went on a crusade against the rebel forces, leaving Sun Quan and Zhou Tai to guard Xuancheng. Sun Quan believed that the thieves everywhere were not worried, so he was careless, making Xuancheng's defense very weak.
One day, thousands of thieves raided Xuancheng, which was guarded by less than a thousand people, and soon invaded the city. Sun Quan panicked and hurriedly got on his horse to escape. At this time, several thieves had already killed Sun Quan and cut his saddle, frightening Sun Quan's guards into panic. At this time, Zhou Tai stepped forward to kill the thieves and cover Sun Quan's breakthrough. Sun Quan's bodyguards were relieved and rushed out with Zhou Tai. Zhou Tai was seriously injured and passed out. Sun Ce and Sun Quan were therefore very grateful to Zhou Tai and promoted him to Chungu County.
Third, the congregation will be obedient
In the fourth year of Jian'an (199), Zhou Tai first accompanied Sun Ce and Sun Quan to defeat Liu Xun of Lujiang Taishou, and then followed them to defeat Jiangxia Taishou Huangzu and became the commander of Yichun County. In the thirteenth year of Jian'an (208), Zhou Tai participated in the Battle of Jiangxia with Sun Quan and eliminated Huang Zu. Zhou Tai then resisted Cao Cao with Zhou Yu and Cheng Pu and won the battle of Chibi. The Wu army took advantage of the victory to attack Nan Commandery, triggering the Battle of Gangneung. Zhou Tai therefore helped Zhou Yu defeat Cao Ren and capture Jingzhou.
In the twenty-second year of Jian'an (217), Cao Cao marched south on Sun Quan, triggering the Battle of Wusu. Zhou Tai bravely advanced in this battle and repelled the Cao army, so he was promoted to the post of Governor of Fusu and General Pingyu. At that time, Zhu Ran and Xu Sheng were very dissatisfied with the administration of Zhou Tai, who was from a humble background, so Sun Quan personally went to Shusu to appease him. Sun Quan set up a banquet and gathered the generals to meet. Then Sun Quan personally went to Zhou Tai to pour wine for him, and asked him to undo his clothes and show the wounds on his body. Then Sun Quan pointed to Zhou Tai's wounds and asked him to explain the origins one by one.
Zhou Tai explained the origin of the wounds on his body one by one, and Sun Quan listened to the pain and weeping, so he said to him: "Youping, as a lonely brother, you fight like a bear and a tiger, and you regard death as a homecoming, so you have suffered dozens of knife wounds. How can lonely not treat you as a biological brother and let you take on the heavy responsibility of commanding the army. You are the hero of Da Wu, and you must share honor and disgrace with you. Don't think of yourself as being humble and self-deprecating. ”
Sun Quan then asked Zhou Tai to get dressed and spend the night with the generals. The next day, Sun Quan gave Zhou Tai his commonly used imperial canopy, asked him to sit and go out to inspect the side, and also let the honor guard open the way in front, and the drummers played trumpets and drums next to him. Zhu Ran and Xu Sheng saw it, and only then did they feel very much awe of Zhou Tai and no longer harbored dissatisfaction.
Fourth, resist the Shu Han
In the twenty-fourth year of Jian'an (219), Sun Quan sent troops to sneak up on Guan Yu and capture Jingzhou. In order to prevent Liu Bei from sending troops to retaliate, Sun Quan then made Zhou Tai the Taishou of Hanzhong, the general of Fenwei, and the Marquis of Lingyang, and asked him to resist Shu Han. Soon after Zhou Tai's death, Sun Quan had his son Zhou Shao inherit his official position and command his old ministry.
In general, Zhou Tai was a famous general in Jiangdong, loyal to Sun Quan, fighting thousands of enemy troops to rescue Sun Quan, which can be said to be brave and invincible. If there was no Zhou Tai sacrificing himself to protect the Lord, then Sun Quan would definitely die in battle at Xuancheng, and the situation in the three kingdoms could be said to have changed greatly. Therefore, Sun Quancai was very grateful to Zhou Tai and praised him for fighting like a bear and a tiger.
