On January 6, the US battery developer Our Next Energy (ONE) announced a new battery adapted to tesla Model S, with a total capacity of 203.7kWh and an energy density of up to 416Wh/L, which can solve the problem of electric vehicle endurance.
Our Next Energy has tested the battery in the Model S and has a range of 752 mph (about 1210 km/ h) at an average speed of 55 mph (about 88 km/h). Subsequently, a third-party testing institute conducted the test, and at the same speed, the endurance reached 882 miles (about 1420 kilometers).
Although whether this modified battery can be mass-produced is still a problem, it at least proves the technical feasibility and creates a record for the endurance of pure electric vehicles. In the future, Tesla may not cooperate with Our Next Energy, and the new car is equipped with this battery to solve the user's battery life anxiety.
Fuel car owners with endurance anxiety disorder also have it, but electric vehicle owners are more serious, not that electric vehicles have poor endurance. In addition to the great discount in the winter endurance, the other three quarters of mainstream electric vehicle endurance is actually comparable to fuel vehicles, the problem is that fuel vehicles are convenient to replenish fuel, driving to the gas station for a few minutes can be done, electric vehicles need to be charged at the charging station for tens of minutes.
More importantly, when there are more electric vehicles, charging may also need to queue, each car takes tens of minutes, and the queue is afraid to wait for several hours. Therefore, the mileage of electric vehicles is more important than that of fuel vehicles. If the daily use of electric vehicles can reach 1400 kilometers, about the distance from Guangzhou to Shanghai, then running a long distance is more than enough, and it is no harm to reach the destination and recharge.
Even if the winter car life declines, there can be six or seven hundred kilometers, even if the air conditioning is turned on, you can ensure that daily travel is not a problem, run long distances without worrying too much about the endurance, not like the Russian Minister of Industry Dennis Manturov, go out in winter to drive model 3, the result almost failed to go home.
A few days ago, Mercedes-Benz, Weilai, GAC Aeon and other car companies have released pure electric vehicle models with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers, but the specific delivery time has not been determined, and it is expected that GAC AION LX Plus will be the world's first pure electric vehicle with a range of 1,000 kilometers for mass production and delivery.
As the world's highest-selling electric vehicle company, Tesla can't watch its competitors continue to improve, but it has stopped moving. Xiao Lei predicts that before 2023, Tesla will also release models with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers, so that the endurance of pure electric vehicles can catch up with range-extended electric vehicles.
