A few years later, what the father did not expect was that his child not only grew up peacefully, but also grew into a well-known general, who had a big temper, and whoever said that he was a deputy changed his face!

This general was He Bingyan, and as remarkable as his military exploits were his violent temper, he did not want to be subordinate to the people, but in a war, when the appointment of him as commander was down, he was determined to become a deputy commander.

When he first joined the army, He Bingyan was just an apprentice who had just escaped from the blacksmith's shop, and had not learned any systematic tactical system, only a good strength that could strike iron and a pure heart.
Such a doll was very common in the Red Army at that time, and He Bingyan was able to stand out among these people, and was promoted step by step to become a company commander, relying on nothing else, but on the battlefield without fear of death.
One day in June 1932, during a blockade battle in the Honghu Sub-district, He Bingyan was faced with the shortage of materials on the battlefield at that time and the huge strength of the enemy, so he was obligated to entrust the gun in his hand to his comrades-in-arms, and he took a kitchen knife in the logistics and jumped out of the fortifications and rushed into the enemy army.
Relying on a kitchen knife to split left and right, the momentum was unstoppable, and he successfully led his comrades to repel the enemy troops of the two regiments, and He Bingyan's prestige was also launched.
Of course, in the process of fighting the enemy for a long time, He Bingyan was also growing rapidly, constantly accumulating strategies and tactics, and gradually growing into a strategic general.
Although He Bingyan is constantly growing, he still experiences many ups and downs in the course of the battle, and he is also jokingly called the "replacement officer" on the battlefield.
It turned out that in the course of the operation, when we studied He Bingyan's combat experience, it was not difficult to find that He Bingyan was often arranged by his superiors to rescue extremely dangerous situations, and this arrangement was often temporarily appointed.
For example, in 1933, when a forward unit of the Red Army and the Kuomintang army suddenly encountered each other unexpectedly, and the two sides were overwhelmed, Lu Dongsheng, commander of the Red Seventh Division, urgently arranged for He Bingyan to go to the front line as the regimental commander to solve the problem.

In March 1935, the general headquarters of the Red Army suddenly came a group of "uninvited guests", and the command center at that time had no main force, only some "fire-headed troops", just when Commander He Long had a headache, He Bingyan just happened to pass by here with some small soldiers.
He Long immediately appointed He Bingyan as the "Commander of the Fire Head Army", and He Bingyan once again lived up to his trust, taking the lead in rushing into the enemy army with a bundle of grenades and leading the "Fire Head Army" to defeat the enemy.
There are many such encounters, so He Bingyan got the nickname of "filling vacancy official", but He Bingyan did not refuse this title, he said that as long as the people need it, that is where I want to go.
He Bingyan's mind can be seen from this, but He Bingyan's combat experience is indeed very bumpy, and there will always be some accidents that disrupt his original battle plan, and he will not be bitter until later.
Therefore, He Bingyan attaches great importance to his honor, in his opinion, it is the best recognition of himself, the best praise for the suffering he has experienced, to be the best, he also has the ability to be good, therefore, if someone says to his face that he is a so-and-so deputy, he will turn his face on the spot and retort: "You are the leader of the regiment or I brought it out!" ”
Some people may feel that this personality is a bit conceited, but this is also He Bingyan's absolute confidence in his combat ability, after all, a soldier who does not want to be a general is not a good soldier, and a commander who does not want to be a full-time commander is not a good commander!
Second, the commander of the first column of the Northwest Field Army, after learning the truth, categorically refused
In early 1947, with the failure of the Kuomintang army's all-out offensive against the Liberated Areas, they were forced to switch to heavy breakouts, concentrating 34 brigades of 250,000 men in the northwest region, compared with only 26,000 people in the Northwest Field Army at that time.
In such a disparity in numbers, the Northwest Field Army won three major victories in the three battles of Qinghua, Yangmahe, and Panlong in succession, completely stabilizing the situation in the northwest, and the history is called the three victories in northern Shaanxi.
However, such an absolute victory does not mean that the Northwest Field Army did not have a moment of negligence, in the Battle of Yongping, the Northwest Field Army gathered a total of five brigades to besiege the Kuomintang 29th Army headquarters and the 12th Brigade, which were in Yongping at that time.
However, the weather was not as good as people wanted, and the commander of the other army may have seen through the plans of the Northwest Field Army, and instead of leading his troops to escape like other Kuomintang officers, he stationed in Yongping, laid a solid fortification, began to fight a protracted war, and at the same time began to urgently request the support of the Kuomintang First Army.
Faced with such a situation, the troops who were preparing to conquer this Kuomintang army together with the Northwest Field Army were first unable to hold back and were ready to retreat, and the Northwest Field Army had to collect troops after losing its first-hand advantage and losing its comrades-in-arms.
As soon as this news came back to Peng Dehuai's ears, Peng Dehuai was particularly annoyed, and the meat to the mouth was not eaten, which was too inconsistent with The habits of Mr. Peng.
Peng Dehuai's heart was extremely uncomfortable, and when he heard someone say that the First Column of the Northwest Field Army had withdrawn from the battlefield first, Peng Dehuai's anger suddenly soared higher.
If nothing else, because the commander of this first column was personally appointed when he first became the commander of the First Field Army, and this person was quite familiar with him, this person was Zhang Zongxun, a veteran general who had followed Peng Dehuai for many years.
As early as the Xiangjiang Campaign, the two were already acquainted, and later they participated in the battles in Zunyi and other places together, the feelings were still very deep, Peng Dehuai also recognized Zhang Zongxun's talent, so he had just served as the commander of the Northwest Field Army, he appointed Zhang Zongxun as the commander of the first column, so that Zhang Zongxun could play a good vanguard.
Unexpectedly, now that his old subordinates had made such a big mistake, Peng Dehuai ruthlessly removed Zhang Zongxun from his post and reappointed another person as the commander of the first column.

So who is this person? Yes, it is He Bingyan, the "vacancy official" we mentioned earlier, who once again served as a "vacancy official", or his favorite official position, does this still need to be polite? Pick up the knife and get on.
But when he had just finished reporting at Peng Dehuai's office, he met Yu Qiuli, the political commissar of the 1st Column 358th Brigade, who was treating noji, an old comrade-in-arms of his for many years.
In many important battles in He Bingyan's life, Yu Qiuli was born and died with him, one was the regimental commander and the other was the political commissar, and they had become good brothers who cared for each other.
Therefore, He Bingyan temporarily slowed down and chatted with his former old comrades-in-arms for a while, and it was this chat record that allowed He Bingyan to learn the truth of the Battle of Yongping.
It turned out that it was not the first column that took the lead in withdrawing, nor was it Zhang Zongxun who arranged the wrong battle plan, but it can only be said that the plan is difficult to catch up with the changes, and Zhang Zongxun should be responsible, but there is no need to pay such a big price.
After Yu Qiuli said the truth, he felt sorry for Zhang Zongxun and proposed to He Bingyan: "Or let Zhang Zongxun be the commander?" You can command as well as a deputy commander! ”
Yu Qiuli said this is just some compassion, and did not hold out much hope for He Bingyan to agree to this proposal, as his friend for many years, Yu Qiuli understood that his friend had always had a fighting spirit in his heart that did not accept defeat.
Perhaps it was a hero who cherished a hero, or maybe it was an unlucky egg that saw an unlucky egg, and unexpectedly, He Bingyan agreed to Yu Qiuli's proposal and became the deputy commander himself.
Some people may say that this difference is not big, nothing, but as He Bingyan, who has been charged with unclear crimes several times, he knows how uncomfortable it is for a person to feel innocently wronged.
You can be blamed, but you can't be wronged, because it is difficult to vent heat when your heart is cold, not to mention, the situation in the northwest at that time involved the whole body, and if you want to make the whole army twist into a rope, there can only be one voice of command.
Therefore, He Bingyan cares about his professional title and honor, but He Bingyan is willing to let go of this low-hanging on to glory, and what he wants is always a bright and upright struggle!
After accepting Yu Qiuli's proposal, He Bingyan quickly showed his sincerity, and in May, the Battle of Panlong was about to start, as the last major battle of the three wars and three victories in northern Shaanxi, the importance of this battle was self-evident.
However, when the Northwest Field Army was preparing to launch a general offensive against the enemy, He Bingyan personally suppressed the order of the Central Military Commission and said to Zhang Zongxun, who came to greet him: "I am still the deputy commander and assist you in commanding!" ”

In the life of General He Bingyan, the military career is the most important part, he dedicated the most wonderful twenty years of his life to the motherland, guarding the people, his whole body was wounded eleven times, as many as sixteen scars, he was like a candle selflessly burning his own life to light candles for others to light candles, to find the way forward for the motherland.
On July 1, 1960, He Bingyan, commander of the People's Liberation Army In Chengdu, died of illness at the age of 47.
