289 years after Xu Xiake's death, another young man made a similar but even more remarkable feat. If Xu Xiake is traveling around China, then this is circumnavigating the world, or hiking! Not only was he the first in Chinese history, but he was also the first to travel around the globe on foot in human history. This heroic traveler is Pan Deming.
Pan Deming was born in 1908 in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, but his ancestral home is Nanhui, Shanghai. Pan Deming has been fond of sports activities since he was a child, and since he was seven or eight years old, he has run around Huzhou City. Climbing mountains is also a common thing, and I like to read world geography and various books about travel, and then I grew up and gave birth to another kind of mind. That is the belief of "snow 'sick man' of East Asia" and "seeking the light of the world", and with the support of love and faith, he has a later feat.
In the summer of 1930, several young people in Shanghai organized the Chinese Youth Asia Walking Tour, determined to hike Asia. Their declaration said: The Chinese nation, which has been saddled with civilization and creation for more than five thousand years in history, has unfortunately arrived in the modern world, withered and decadent, and has become a common psychopathy among young people... We decided to set out from Shanghai with perseverance and bravery and gradually practice our purpose. In every step, we must show the glory of the history of the Chinese nation... All the way to the final point of our scheduled journey.
As soon as the declaration was issued, it caused a sensation, when Pan Deming was 21 years old. He was originally running a Western restaurant, but after reading it, he decided to join. Giving up a stable life to fulfill seemingly unattainable and difficult dreams obviously requires great determination. When Pan Deming embarked on this road, he did not regret it, he walked very firmly. Because he was a few days late for the walking group, he had to rush to Hangzhou by car first and catch up with the pace of the walking group.
But when this team arrived in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, for various reasons, only Pan Deming was left. He did not flinch, but changed his original intention and set this trip as going to the world. He bought a bicycle in Vietnam and a copy of The Famous Ink Book to prepare a precious commemoration of his round-the-world trip, with the preface to the preface stating his intentions. He then traveled from Saigon, Vietnam, to Thailand via Cambodia, and through Malaya to Singapore, where The Giant Overseas Chinese businessman Hu Wenhu was the first to write the inscription.
With the support of overseas Chinese, he took a car and embarked on a steamer to India and met Tagore. He was also received by Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru, who told him in tears: I hope that our two countries will quickly strengthen themselves. After leaving India, he went to Iran, Iraq, Syria to Jerusalem, the Sinai Peninsula, and then crossed the Suez Canal and set foot on the African continent. After seeing the pyramids, Pan Deming had another idea, for two years he had seen ancient civilizations, and it was time to look at industrially developed countries.
So he crossed the Mediterranean sea from Alexandria and went to Europe. When Greek Prime Minister Vinicolas saw him, he said: I see from you the awakening of the ancient countries of the East. Pan Deming also went to Olympia and was indignant when he saw that China did not have money to participate in the 1932 Olympic Games. To this end, he wrote down the Chinese Pan Deming on paper in English and Chinese characters, although the paper will soon be gone, but what he did will eventually be seen.
He has visited sixteen countries, including Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Austria, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Norway. When he arrived in Paris, France in July 1933, French President Robert Lebrand gave him Napoleon's words: China is a sick, sleeping giant, but when he wakes up, the whole world will shake. In France, he happened to meet Zhang Xueliang, who was treated, and the two saw each other at first sight.
After entering Germany, Penderming was received by Hitler and Goebbels, and Hitler talked to him for two days. It is worth mentioning that Hitler also painted a portrait of this Chinese. But when he met British Prime Minister Macdonald, his industrial salvation ideals were shattered, because europe was experiencing a serious economic and political crisis. However, he did not stop his pace, turned to the United States, and was received by Roosevelt.
He then trekked deep into the Mississippi River and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, where the United States was the country he stayed the longest. He had wanted to visit Marie Curie, but she was too busy, but he got 12 kinds of raw materials for making cars from Ford. After obtaining the raw materials, Pan Deming urgently wanted to return to China, hoping to excavate minerals for the motherland. Then he went to New Zealand and Indonesia, and originally planned to go to Japan, but he thought that the Japanese would kill my compatriots and kill China, so he changed his plan.
He eventually traveled from Singapore to Malaya, from Thailand to Burma to Yunnan, and finally to Shanghai on July 6, 1937. In seven years, he traveled to more than 40 countries and regions, and due to the July 7 Incident, the plan to survey the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was canceled. After seven years, he still had an extra $10 to study the expenses, which were donated by overseas Chinese, and finally all donated to the cause of anti-Japanese resistance. After that, he lived a normal life, spending most of his time sorting out materials, but unfortunately it was almost destroyed around the 60s and 70s.
The traveler who traveled the world was also unfortunate in his later years, and on October 18, 1976, he was overjoyed to hear the news of the fall of the four people. So I drank a few more glasses of wine, and as a result, I died of a sudden myocardial infarction at the age of 68.
