Prior to CES 2022, Hyundai had already shown off some practical robot concepts last month, The Verge reported. Now, the South Korean automaker has come up with a new "Mobility of Things" concept that claims it will power a range of objects, from plants and bookshelves in homes, to ambulances and autonomous passenger compartments, among others.
Modern companies are clearly excited about the future of robotics. Last year, the company, which has a stake in robot maker Boston Dynamics, unveiled a new version of its four-legged "walking car" concept called TIGER, or "Transforming Smart Ground Tour Robots." It's the second car the automaker has unveiled at Silicon Valley's Ultimate Mobility Studio, and the first to be fully self-designed with no space for drivers or passengers.
In many ways, this builds on the concept hyundai unveiled at CES 2017, when the automaker envisioned a hybrid of a smart home with self-driving cars, with futuristic furniture moving seamlessly between the two. Shockingly, that vision was never realized. But as the technology matures, modern cars are still insisting that their strange robot concepts can find a foothold in the real world.
