Samsung executives say large-scale M&A deals are imminent

A senior official of Samsung Electronics said at the 2022 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 5, local time in the United States that sooner or later, Samsung Electronics will announce large-scale mergers and acquisitions.

Speaking at a press conference at the Caesars Palace Hotel in Las Vegas, Samsung Electronics Experience (DX), Han Jong-hee, vice chairman of Samsung's Electronics Experience (DX), said: "I think we will soon be able to deliver good news to you about the M&A deal. ”

Han Jong-hee revealed that Samsung is pushing for mergers and acquisitions with multiple companies, rather than one company. "We have been looking for M&A deals in the components and kit sectors. Many companies in both areas are within the scope of our mergers and acquisitions."

At this year's CES, Han said he looked around at booths at different companies, including automakers, to get new ideas. However, he made it clear that Samsung is not interested in entering the automotive industry.

When asked why Samsung Electronics has integrated its consumer electronics (CE) division and Internet and mobile (IM) divisions into the DX division, Han said: "Samsung electronic devices sell about 500 million units worldwide each year and penetrate into the daily lives of customers," "This integration demonstrates Samsung's willingness to create a differentiated customer experience." ”

Han also hinted that Samsung Electronics is in talks with LG Display about purchasing OLED TV panels. "I'm not sure if Samsung will buy OLED panels from LG, but we'll keep that possibility."
