On November 26, the Beijing News Shell Finance reported that the environmental information disclosure platform of Shanghai enterprises and institutions showed that Tesla was conducting an environmental impact assessment of the second phase of the Shanghai Gigafactory Project (Phase I) production line optimization project. The report shows that the total investment of the project is as high as 1.2 billion yuan, and construction is expected to start in December and be completed as soon as Next April.
There will be no new changes in the production models produced at the plant, and the main production of Model 3, Model Y and derivative models will continue to be produced. Tesla said in its EIA report that it had completed carbon footprint and carbon emissions accounting for the project. Next, with the completion of the expansion project, the annual production capacity of Tesla's Shanghai factory is expected to increase to 1 million units, which will become the world's largest electric vehicle production plant.
Tesla's capacity growth is mainly due to the expansion of the Shanghai factory and the commissioning of the Berlin factory, Tesla has also made a huge investment in the Austin, Texas factory, the investment in the factory alone reached 10 billion US dollars, and the production capacity will increase significantly in the next few years.
