In May 1946, after Wen Yucheng led the 2nd Division to capture Panshicheng, the enemy situation suddenly came from the front: the enemy 22nd Division guarding Hailong was going to withdraw to Jilin. Wen Yucheng immediately said to everyone, "Although the troops are very tired, this opportunity is rare, and the enemy troops are even more tired than us, so we can't let them go!" ”
Therefore, the whole division began to chase all the way, chasing for a day and a night, unable to eat and rest, but under the encouragement of Wen Yucheng, no one in the whole division was left behind, and finally annihilated the enemy 22nd Division at Jichang Town.
However, as soon as the battle was over, information came that some of the enemy's 22nd Division had escaped, and Wen Yucheng immediately led his troops in a fierce pursuit, and finally annihilated the remnants of this enemy army in Shuanggou Town.
At that time, the captured enemy troops were already exhausted, gasping for breath and saying, "Are your feet made of iron?" So poor chase! ”
When Wen Yucheng heard about it, he laughed and said, "To tell you, this is still chased out by you, during the Long March, you chased us to fight, if it were not for this pair of iron feet, would there still be today?" ”
After the outbreak of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the 40th Army was the first unit to enter the DPRK, and its commander was Wen Yucheng.
The predecessor of the 40th Army, the 3rd Column of the Northeast Field Army, that is, Han Xianchu's "Whirlwind Force", was invincible in the northeast and no one could stop it, so after the establishment of the Volunteer Army, the 40th Army was ordered to serve as the vanguard and go to the front.
Before leaving, Wen Yucheng said to his subordinates: "The country that has gone abroad represents the country, and the war cannot be sloppy, in case the battle is lost, our 40th Army cannot afford to lose that person!" ”
Soon after the 40th Army entered Korea, it received orders to establish defensive lines around Tokugawa and Ningyuan. At that time, the South Korean 6th Division had already occupied Wentong and was preparing to go north to occupy Bitong, and after Wen Yucheng led his army to arrive, he felt that the valley around Wenjing was good, the rice in the field had been harvested, and the field of vision was wide, and if an ambush was fought here, the enemy would certainly not expect it.
After surveying the terrain, Wen Yucheng immediately deployed, and on both sides of the valley, the generals of the 40th Army were waiting in strict formation!
Soon, the enemy began to move, tanks, artillery in an endless stream, the mighty drive over, and when the enemy army reached the valley, Wen Yucheng gave an order, bullets, grenades, shells, roaring and blossoming everywhere, making the enemy troops dizzy and scattered.
After a few hours of fierce fighting, the 40th Army annihilated an infantry battalion and an artillery squadron of the enemy army, capturing more than 400 people and winning a great victory!
After receiving the good news, Mr. Peng clapped his hands and applauded one after another, saying: "The first battle of the 40th Army fired the first shot of the volunteer army's entry into the DPRK!" ”
After hearing this news, the chairman also said with satisfaction: "October 25 should be the anniversary of the volunteer army going abroad!" ”
The 40th Army led by Wen Yucheng not only fired the first shot to resist the United States and aid Korea, but also participated in 5 battles throughout the process, annihilating more than 43,000 enemy troops, invincible, and making countless contributions.
In 1955, Wen Yucheng was awarded the rank of lieutenant general and died on October 29, 1989, at the age of 74.
