Foshan Volunteer Service New Year's Day Holiday "No Closing"

author:Nine Schools of Observation

Pink clay is kneaded into the shape of water droplets to make petals, green clay is kneaded into the shape of leaves and then pressed out of the texture, and a beautiful picture of spring peach blossoms is shaped in the hands of volunteers. During the first small holiday in 2022, many volunteers and public welfare groups in Foshan used the holiday to carry out public welfare actions and pass on the concept of helping others and the spirit of happiness and kindness.

On the afternoon of January 2, at the volunteer V station in Baihua Square, Zumiao Street, Chancheng District, Ouyang Jiezhen and many other volunteers were making clay handicrafts, and various clays turned into pink peach blossoms, cute kittens, and tempting hamburgers in their hands. These handmade works will be given to the elderly living alone, so that they can feel the festive atmosphere.

"It's been cold lately, so we've knitted hats and scarves by hand to give to the elderly in need." Ouyang Jiezhen told reporters that she joined the Yingyue Handmade Love Help Association as a volunteer at the end of 2017 and dedicated a love by doing handicrafts. The V volunteer station displays lanterns, paper cuts, fans and other handicrafts made by her and other volunteers, and the proceeds from the charity sale are used to help groups such as families with single parent difficulties and kidney disease patients.

Like Ouyang Jiezhen, who chose to carry out volunteer services during the New Year's Day holiday, there are also volunteers from the Foshan Bus Driver Volunteer Service Team. On January 2, at the bus platform of Oriental Square in Chancheng District, a group of volunteers wearing red vests held small red flags and directed buses to enter and exit the station in an orderly manner, help the elderly get on and off the bus, and guide passengers to prepare health codes before getting on the bus. Among the volunteers were bus drivers from the Guangdong Transport Bus Company and the Foshan-Guangzhou Bus Company, as well as students from Foshan Institute of Science and Technology and Xian Kecheng Memorial School. They all use their holiday time to participate in the "smooth bus, civilized travel" activity, and contribute to polishing foshan's "National Civilized City" signboard.

In Gaoming, more than 30 volunteers of the Leshan Public Welfare Team took advantage of the New Year's Day holiday to distribute hand-wrapped steaming dumplings, gloves, Spring Festival and other love items to 150 community elders to send them holiday wishes.

At 5:00 a.m. on January 1, volunteers came to the scene to prepare the ingredients, and from 8:00 a.m., they were divided into five groups to make dumplings together. Huang Wenbo, chairman of the Leshan Charity Team, said that the Leshan Charity Team deliberately chose to create a "Charity Culture Festival" during the New Year's Day holiday, hoping to spread good thoughts and good deeds to the society on the first day of the new year, care for special groups with practical actions, and help Foshan build a city of charity.
