It is said that the peasants worked hard to cultivate their own land, and Zhu Yuanzhang's family was so poor that they did not even have land, and they were dependent on a landlord named Liu De. If there is a hierarchy, it is the lowest number of peasants, and food and clothing depend on the rewards of the landlord's family.
This landlord named Liu De is not a benevolent person, Zhu Yuanzhang has been herding cattle for Liu De's family since he was 8 years old, and the most he has suffered is scolding, and he can occasionally eat a leftover meal, which is a big thing for Zhu Yuanzhang. After all, if the harvest is good at home, there can still be some hope, but if it catches up with the bad year, Zhu Yuanzhang still has to find a way to dig wild vegetables and beat the hare to eat.
In 1343, a drought occurred in Zhu Yuanzhang's hometown of Haozhou, and before Zhu Yuanzhang's family could catch their breath, a locust plague and plague broke out in the area the following year. The family that could not open the pot suffered one blow after another, and within half a month, Zhu Yuanzhang's father, eldest brother and mother died one after another. Zhu Yuanzhang's family was poor and white, and there was no place for his family to be buried.
Zhu Yuanzhang, who was only 15 years old, and her second brother ran to the home of the landlord Liu De, kneeling and begging Liu De to give his parents a place to bury. Liu De where Ken, at that time, every day such a person died a lot of people went. Liu De was already numb, if everyone begged him and he helped, then he himself would not be able to survive for a long time.
This landlord Liu De also struggled from a poor peasant in his early years, he worked hard, was diligent and thrifty, saved money little by little to buy land, and finally became a landlord. Therefore, even if he became a landlord and ate fat and big ears, he would also search for outsiders. In his opinion, he could become a landlord because of his diligence, so he still looked down on those who were poor but not yet thrifty, and did not want to return to the hard days of the peasants.
Zhu Yuanzhang begged him, so he and the second brother knelt at the door of the house and cried bitterly. When the neighbor Liu Jizu saw this scene, he felt pity and gave them a cemetery. But Liu Jizu's family was also poor and could not afford to buy a coffin. Zhu Yuanzhang and the second brother and brother found rags and wrapped the bodies of their parents and buried them on the land of the Liu family.
After that, Zhu Yuanzhang and the second brother scattered and fled. Along the way, Zhu Yuanzhang worked as a beggar and a monk, was oppressed by the government, and later joined the rebel army with friends in 1353. After Zhu Yuanzhang enlisted in the army, he found that he was originally a combat genius, the rebel army sang all the way under his leadership, and Zhu Yuanzhang was a Confucian scholar, and he learned a lot of governing the country with Confucianism.
In the end, Zhu Yuanzhang's army reaped the fruits of its final victory and established the Ming Dynasty in 1368. When he became emperor, he naturally wanted to return to his hometown for a while. When Zhu Yuanzhang returned to his hometown, he saw Liu De in the crowd of people greeting him, so he asked someone to bring Liu De.
Liu De was so frightened that his body went weak, so he just fell to his knees and shouted for his life. Zhu Yuanzhang, dressed in a yellow robe, felt a lot of emotions, and only said: "What Er does is also a constant ear, there is no need to ask." When I was poor, did I know that today is the Son of Heaven? Liu De heard this and was grateful. Zhu Yuanzhang also asked the benefactor Liu Jizu about his whereabouts, and when he learned that he had been dead for a long time, he had no choice but to lament.
In the end, Zhu Yuanzhang posthumously named Liu Jizu the Marquis of Yihui, protected his descendants, and rewarded Liu De with 30 acres of good land, without taxation. Liu De, who had already been spared death, was rewarded again, and he was really very happy, and the people of the world also praised Zhu Yuanzhang's arrogance.
Perhaps it was precisely because he experienced hardships since he was a child and was bullied by the government that Zhu Yuanzhang was jealous and hateful, and his attitude towards his courtiers was that he could not tolerate a thorn, but he was particularly tolerant of the people. During his reign, he was very diligent and honest, and although there was a lot of criticism of him, he could also be regarded as a generation of overlords.
