In early 1931, Wang Minggui left his hometown and came to work at the Gejinhe Gold Mine in Tangyuan County, Heilongjiang Province, where he became a gold miner.

In the summer of 1936, Wang Minggui received an order from the organization to go to the political and military school of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army to participate in training.
After four months of study, Wang Minggui not only mastered military theory and military technology, but also raised his political consciousness and became a glorious Communist Party member.
Four months of study laid a solid foundation for him to command battles and lead the team in the future.
Wang Minggui's son once said: "My father commanded more than two hundred and thirty battles in his lifetime, and the one that impressed him the most was the battle of Zhizhi Keshan." ”
Keshan County, located in the plains, all kinds of railways, traffic in all directions, by the Japanese invaders called "Manchukuo" "model county", and even touted: "iron Manchukuo, model Keshan County." ”
In order to consolidate this place and carry out fascist rule, the Japanese army set up a prison in the city that could accommodate more than 300 people, which held a large number of patriotic young people and anti-coalition fighters.
Not only that, the Japanese army also stationed a puppet army in Keshan County, a police academy, and a garrison of more than 100 people, and these numbers added up to more than 1,000 people.

One night in May 1940, Wang Minggui met Fang Bingyu at the old Chen family in Gangzi, Nanyang.
The two were very happy to meet here, at that time Wang Minggui was already the captain of the third detachment, due to the frequent dispatches of the Japanese army recently, so the third detachment had to move immediately, and this transfer naturally brought Fang Bingyu.
After the team withdrew from Nanyang Gangzitun, they came to the Chalabach area. Here, Wang Minggui held a meeting.

A few seconds later, a man's voice came from the darkness: "We are the ninth detachment." Wang Minggui was overjoyed when he heard this, and ordered all the soldiers to return to the backyard, while he and his chief of staff, Wang Jun, personally went to greet him.
