Wang Wei grew up in the mountains of Nigao Town, Wuchuan County, Guizhou. She told reporters that there are many mountain roads in her hometown, and it takes more than an hour for villagers to go to the hospital in the town, and local villagers have always relied on rural doctors for medical treatment.
"My father was a village doctor, and after I understood things, I often followed him to the villagers' homes to help, help measure blood pressure, and vaccinate. I watched him walk through every household in the village year after year, saving lives and helping the injured, all year round, and his spirit touched me. Under the influence of the village doctor's father, Wang Wei became interested in medicine. Once, a patient with inconvenient legs and feet forced his family to help himself to Wang Wei's father, and he must hold his father's hands and thank his father for saving his life.
"At that moment, I felt as if my father had an aura of his own, and from then on I made up my mind, whether it was in my hometown village or going to other places, I was determined to become a doctor and let more patients get rid of the disease."
In 2012, the little girl from Wuchuan participated in the free training program for rural targeted medical students. After eight years of study and training at Zunyi Medical University, in 2020, she returned to the hometown where she was born and raised her, continued to embark on the road that his father walked, and used the medical knowledge she learned to protect the health of her father and fellow villagers.
The level of primary medical care is uneven, and targeted medical students inject new vitality
At present, the Nigao Town Health Center, where Wang Wei is located, is responsible for solving the problem of medical treatment for villagers in 8 villages, including Nigao Village, Qinglong Village, Zhenjiang Village, Laoying Village, Blast Furnace Village, Liyuan Village, Qingping Village and Zhuyuan Village.
"In a small mountain village like ours, medical resources are very scarce. Before we came, the doctors in the health center did not have undergraduates, all of them were specialists. Wang Wei told the Health Times reporter.
In recent years, with the increase of state investment, the conditions of township health centers have been improved. However, when Wang Wei first reported to the health center, the medical staff of the Nigao Town Health Center was insufficiently equipped, there was a situation of one person and multiple jobs, and the clinic only had a general clinic, no doctor, no standardized medical process, and the division of medical care was not clear.
"The quality of care and hospital infection management were not well done before I came. For example, CPR, the use of simple breathing air bags and sterile operation are not up to standard, and some do not even know how to assemble simple breathing air bags. The first thing I wanted to do after I arrived at the health center was to organize and mobilize everyone to learn training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of simple breathing air bags, and the medical staff of the hospital were very actively participating. Wang Wei said.
Wang Wei told reporters that as the center of the rural "tertiary preventive health care network", the general treatment of emergency departments is mainly debridement and suturing. "The patient has some small wounds, and if he runs to the county hospital to suture, it will take more than an hour on the light road, which is unrealistic, so basically it will be handled here." In the past, some of the instruments here also used glutaraldehyde soaking disinfection, which increased the risk of cross-infection, after I came, in order to reduce the cross-infection between patients and the occurrence of hospital feeling, I immediately organized the health center to purchase a disposable debridement suture package, and standardized the operation and process of debridement suture by medical staff in the health center. ”
In addition, before Wang Wei came, pregnant women in the village would choose to go to the county-level hospital if they wanted to give birth. Now, slowly began to have some pregnant women choose to come to the health center and let Wang Wei help deliver the baby.
In 2021, wang Wei's health center had 9,961 outpatient visits, a total income of about 1.939 million yuan, and 1,128 hospitalizations.
In the township health center, she is a doctor, and not only a doctor

Located in the depths of the Liangshan Mountains, Wuchuan Nigao Town has the highest altitude in the county, with rain and insufficient light all year round, according to Wang Wei, most of the elderly here suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and inconvenient legs and feet. "Most of the people who stayed in the village were the elderly and left-behind children, and the young people went out to work. Children are generally brought by the elderly. However, the elderly sometimes have insufficient ear backs or common sense, and communication is more difficult. Wang Wei feels that in the more than a year since he was in the health center, the biggest change in his mentality is that he has become more and more patient.

"For the elderly here, you not only have to help them see a doctor, but also give them health education and psychological counseling, teach them some healthy lifestyles, such as smoking less, reducing coal time and so on." Many elderly people in the village feel that it is not good to take medicine for a long time, and the psychological burden will be very heavy, so they must be psychologically counseled. Wang Wei said, "After many elderly people unload their mental burden, it will be easier to alleviate the pain of the disease." ”
Wang Wei has a patient with suspected sequelae of cerebral infarction, who is also a widowed elderly who needs long-term oral medication to maintain the non-progressive development of the disease. Whenever he encounters such patients, Wang Wei wants to do his best to help them reduce the torment of the disease.
But patients and doctors often heal each other. The old man often said that although his illness could not be cured, with the help of the national policy and the care of medical personnel, his soul was comforted, and the pain was not so painful. "His words strengthened my determination to stay, because they needed me, and I couldn't do without this piece of people and hot land that I loved." Speaking of this, Wang Wei choked up.
According to the regulations, after graduating from the targeted medical student, they must go to the grass-roots level to perform the contract service for 6 years, of which the first 3 years to participate in the residency standardized training, after the end of the service period, they can choose to stay.
