History has its own life, it is like a person, both easy-going and self-respecting. ——Yu Qiuyu
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, although Anhui Province belonged to a place that had not completely fallen, in the early stage of the all-out War of Resistance, the Japanese Kou had already begun to invade Anhui, and a series of tragic cases in the provincial capital Hefei were typical examples.

Historical records record that after the beginning of the all-out War of Resistance, the first japanese invasion of Hefei was in December 1937, and since then, the Japanese have often sent bombers to air raid Hefei, causing serious losses to the lives and property of the people of Hefei.
On March 28, 1938, five Japanese planes dropped more than 100 bombs in Hefei from Bashang Street in the east, to Sanxiaokou in the west, from Guanyan Lane in the south to Yicang Lane in the north. Especially in the east of the Fourth Arch Building and Cross Street, the sea of fire burned until the next morning, and more than a thousand houses were destroyed.
In this tragic case, countless victims died in Hefei city, Ding Shoubang's father and son of jiushihe were killed, ding xiangui, a 12-year-old daughter, was blown off a leg and became permanently disabled; and the body of 4 members of the Beiyoufang family was burned to ashes after being blown up. The enemy bombers bombarded indiscriminately for more than an hour, and just after leaving, the enemy reconnaissance planes circled low in the air, and from time to time strafed with machine guns. More than 200 people were killed.
According to incomplete statistics, in the six months from December 1937 to May 1938, Japanese planes bombed Hefei more than 40 times, killing more than 300 residents, injuring and disabling more than 100 people, and countless houses were blown up and burned down.
In May 1938, the Japanese Kou gradually ended the bombing, and on the morning of the 14th, the Japanese Kou ground troops, under the cover of 12 aircraft, invaded the city from Hefei Desheng Gate and Xiaonan Gate. The inhabitants were alarmed and fled west and north, respectively, while the Japanese followed in pursuit. Suddenly, the streets and alleys of Hefei were spattered with flesh and blood, and corpses were strewn everywhere.
There is a stone bridge outside the city, which is the only way to get out of the north gate, the bridge deck is narrow, refugees flock across the bridge, the bridge deck is crowded, the bridge deck is crowded, at this time the Japanese Kou actually used machine guns to strafe, the result is that the bridge is covered with dead bodies, the bridge is filled with corpses, and the river is cut off.
The next day, the Japanese Kou went door to door throughout the city, arresting innocent civilians in nurseries, Wei ya Pass and other places for collective slaughter. There are archives that the Japanese invaded hefei city this time, and within a few days, more than 5,000 people died under the swords and guns of the Japanese army, accounting for more than half of the number of people in the city that year.
After the Japanese army occupied Hefei, they not only killed people, they also carried out devastating damage to the urban area of Hefei, setting fire to all the houses outside the big and small east gates, outside the north gate and outside the big west gate, and the fire burned for several days. The Japanese also blew up the four arches of hefei's tallest building at that time.
In Hefei, while burning, killing, and robbing, the Japanese also wantonly raped women. Among the women raped by the Japanese army, some were old and young, some were sick and disabled, and even 11-year-old nuns were not spared: some women committed suicide in shame after being raped, and some died under the bayonets of the Japanese Kou.
The road of history is full of twists and turns, and there is a lesson: "Conscientious and strong, the wind is the death"; "the prosperity is not sluggish, and strive to be strong". Only by keeping history in mind, taking history as a mirror, and being brave after knowing shame can we make our motherland prosperous and forever stand tall in the east of the world!
