Speaking of Wang Yaowu, almost everyone knows that he is a famous anti-Japanese general in the Nationalist Army, who led the 74th Army to fight without service during the War of Resistance, and almost filled the whole field. After the outbreak of the Liberation War, he was captured in the Battle of Jinan, then sent to Gongdelin for reform, and the first batch was pardoned in 1959. So who is Wang Yaowu's chief of staff? Compared with Wang Yaowu, Qiu Weida's ending was much better, not only did he not enter the Gongdelin Forest, but he also became a teacher at the Nanjing Military Academy, living for nearly a hundred years.

Qiu Weida is a native of Pingjiang, Hunan, graduated from Huangpu Phase IV, and was a classmate of Zhang Lingfu, Hu Lian and others. After graduating from military school, Qiu Weida participated in the Northern Expedition and soon followed Ye Shuai to participate in the Guangzhou Uprising. After the failure of the uprising, Qiu Weida fled to Xuzhou under the introduction of Huangpu classmates and joined Wang Yaowu's troops as a company commander. For more than 20 years, Qiu Weida has been serving under Wang Yaowu, and Wang Yaowu is extremely concerned about Qiu Weida, and every time he is promoted, Qiu Weida will inevitably be promoted one level.

In 1943, Wang Yaowu was promoted to commander-in-chief of the 24th Group Army, and Qiu Weida was directly promoted from the deputy commander of the 57th Division to the chief of staff of the group army headquarters. Two years later, Wang Yaowu became the commander of the 4th Front, and Qiu Weida was promoted to the rank of chief of staff of the Front. Wang Yaowu was very appreciative of Qiu Weida's talent, the Battle of Xuefeng Mountain was the last battle of the Nationalist army against the Japanese, Wang Yaowu not only asked Qiu Weida to personally formulate a battle plan but also appointed him as the commander-in-chief of the former enemy. Qiu Weida also did not live up to Wang Yaowu's expectations, commanding troops to win the Battle of Xuefeng Mountain, annihilating more than 28,000 enemy troops.

After the outbreak of the Liberation War, Wang Yaowu took charge of Shandong and concurrently served as the commander of the Second Appeasement District, basically leaving the front command. In order to let Qiu Weida have a better development, Wang Yaowu made him the deputy commander of the reorganized 74th Division and made Zhang Lingfu his deputy. In the two Lianshui battles, the 74th Division suffered heavy losses, and Zhang Lingfu deliberately formed three new corps in the rear, which were specifically trained by Qiu Weida. When the Battle of Menglianggu broke out, Qiu Weida was training new soldiers in the rear, and he escaped the disaster.

After the reorganization of the 74th Division was completely destroyed by Meng Lianggu, Wang Yaowu was extremely distressed, and he reported to Chiang Kai-shek that with the approval of old Chiang Kai-shek, he rebuilt the 74th Division with these three new corps as the backbone, and Qiu Weida served as the division commander. After some reorganization, the 74th Division regained its combat effectiveness. When the Battle of Jinan broke out, Wang Yaowu asked Lao Jiang to help him defend the city with the 74th Division's air force Jinan, but Liu Zhi held the 74th Division and finally reluctantly transported 7 companies under Qiu Weida's vigorous resistance. However, it was these 7 companies that caused great trouble for our army, and Wang Jiwen, commander of the 8th Division of the 3rd Column of Huaye, was sacrificed.

If it were not for Liu Zhi's obstruction and the entire 74th Division airlifting jinan, the Battle of Jinan would have been much more difficult to fight, but Qiu Weida had not escaped the disaster again because he did not go to Jinan. Soon after the Battle of Huaihai broke out, at this time the reorganized 74th Division had been renamed the 74th Army, under the command of Qiu Qingquan's Second Corps, and was finally surrounded by our army in the Chenguanzhuang area. Qiu Weida was given preferential treatment after his surrender, and Xu Shiyou left him at his corps headquarters for three days. Because of the voluntary surrender, Qiu Weida not only was not sent to Gongdelin, but also served as a teacher at the Nanjing Military Academy, and has been working in Jiangsu since his transfer, serving as a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial CPPCC Committee. Qiu Weida died in 1998 at the age of 95.
