Among the twelve emperors of the Manchu Qing Dynasty, Shunzhi's sense of existence was really weak, and when he talked about it, what he generally thought of was either the love-hate relationship between the previous generation of Xiaozhuang and Dolgun, or the rule of the next generation of Kangxi Shengming, in short, about Shunzhi himself, except for Dong Efei, there was basically no memory point.
But today I can also tell you that Shunzhi's ability to have children is very strong! He only lived to be 24 years old, but he had 17 children, which means that since he had fertility, at least one child will be born every year, compared with the late Qing Emperor's childlessness, it is really a heaven and an earth.
So, how did he do it in such a short period of time?

Shunzhi was the first emperor of the Manchu Qing Dynasty, whose real name was Aisin Jueluo Fulin, who ascended the throne at the age of 6, but remained a puppet for several years before he was exposed to political affairs until Dorgon died of illness.
In the first month of 1651, the 14-year-old Shunzhi began to formally pro-government, and in August of the same year, he was married, and in December the eldest son, Aisin Kyora Niu, was born. At this age, career, love, and heirs are all there, which also makes many men envious.
For Dorgon, Shunzhi was extremely disgusted in his heart, and politically vigorously denied some of the former's policies, hoping to stabilize his own world. In the harem, Shunzhi was not idle, first deposing the empress chosen by Dorgon, and then successively taking in many concubines.
In August 1656, Shunzhi met his favorite woman and named Dong Eshi a "virtuous concubine", and after only a month, he made Dong Eshi an imperial concubine and granted her amnesty.
In the entire history of the Qing Dynasty, only the crowned empress would be granted amnesty, and Dong Efei's entire imperial concubine was the only time, which showed the degree of her favor.
In 1657, Concubine Dong gave birth to the fourth son of the emperor for Shunzhi, and Shunzhi was very happy and issued an edict to the world that "this is the first son of Shunzhi", and poor Xuan Ye (later Kangxi) was the third son of the emperor, so he was ignored.
If nothing else, Dong Efei's son would have been emperor, but she died less than three months after her birth, and under this blow, Dong Efei fell ill for a long time, and in August 1660, Xiang Yu died.
The death of Concubine Dong and the helplessness of major state affairs caused Shunzhi to fall into pain, so he wanted to become a monk. In October of the year of Aifei's death, he even shaved his hair, so he was almost a ritual, but he was dissuaded by the Yulin Tongxuan Zen master before he did not go to the temple.
However, on the second day of the first lunar month in 1661, Shunzhi arranged for Chongxin's internal supervisor Wu Liangfu to go to the Temple of Mercy and personally went to see the ordination ceremony, only to be infected with smallpox that night and suffer from a high fever, and died after issuing a will on the seventh day of the first month.
The record in the "Qing Shilu" is very simple, just a sentence "collapse in the Yangxin Hall", but the combination of these time points makes it difficult not to doubt the whereabouts of Shunzhi, many people believe that in fact, Shunzhi is because of the pain of losing Dong Efei and has no intention of going to the government, so he escaped into the Buddhist Gate to seek peace of mind, and this idea is reflected in many literary works.
We don't know exactly what the truth is, but one thing is certain, the disappearance of Shunzhi has a lot to do with the excessive sadness caused by the death of Dong Efei. In this way, he is really a seed of infatuation, if it is just an ordinary person, it is really a beautiful love myth.
But let's not lose sight of his identity, he was an emperor! Even if he favored Concubine Dong, he did not delay him from spoiling other concubines, according to historical records, Shunzhi had a total of 4 empresses, of which there were 7 concubines, and then 9 concubines, in addition to 17 Gege.
In the early Qing Dynasty, the system of concubines was not perfect, and in addition to concubines, the lower concubines were called Fujin and Gege. The total number of these famous and recorded women is 37, not counting those who are not good at statistics, which shows that the harem of Shunzhi is very large.
Among Shunzhi's 17 children, Princess Heshuo Heshun, Princess Heshuo Roujia, and Princess Gulun Duanmin are all adopted daughters, so it seems less exaggerated, he reigned for 10 years, accompanied by 37 beautiful people, and the actual biological children were only 14. seem... Not much.
In general, Shunzhi was quite sad in this life, and when he grew up, he was afraid of Dolgun's obscenity, and he had been cautious, and after Dolgun's death, he encountered a folk anti-Qing climax, and it was not easy to have a caring Concubine Dong E, who also died early. It's almost trivial.
Perhaps it is because of this that he will linger in the harem.
