On December 28, the 2021/2022 Biathlon International Training Week was held at the National Biathlon Center as the finale of the "Meet in Beijing" series of winter sports event test activities. As an official event of the Winter Olympics, biathlon is a combination of two different competitions, cross-country skiing and shooting. The training week lasted from December 28 to December 31, about 26 participants from the Olympic Committees of 8 countries and regions and 1 foreign expert participated in the training week, during the test period opened all the tracks of the National Biathlon Center for wax teachers and test skaters from all countries to conduct snow wax tests, athletes did not participate in the training week activities, and the shooting range was not opened during the event.
The National Biathlon Center is one of the competition venues of the ancient poplar stadium group, located in the valley on the northeast side of zhangjiakou Olympic Sports Park, the valley as a whole is high in the east and low in the west, and the track relies on natural terrain.

The National Biathlon Center is the venue with the largest number of gold medals produced at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, producing 49 gold medals. The venue has a total track length of 12.3 km and a total of 11 stages. The venue is mainly composed of a core area, a functional area and a track. The core area of the venue is arranged from north to south, with a track, a starting and finishing area, and a technical building. The functional area is located on the east and west sides of the stadium technical building. The track is divided into three parts, including the Central Race Track, the Eastern Training Track and the Winter Paralympic Circuit in the Valley on the North Side. The number of seats in the design venues for the Winter Olympics is 6024, and the number of seats in the designed venues for the Winter Paralympic Games is 5173.

According to Wang Yuanlong, assistant manager of the mountain operation site of the ancient poplar tree stadium, in response to the specific needs of the training week, the National Biathlon Center has made snow shaping for all the tracks needed for the venue on the 25th of this month, and also completed the safety protection around it. Among them, the snowmaking thickness in the core area such as the starting and ending areas has reached 1 meter, and the track area has reached 60 to 80 centimeters.

It is understood that in this training week activity, medical security will become the focus of the exercise. According to Zhang Xinji, medical manager of the National Biathlon Center, the medical service team of the biathlon center has a total of 41 people, and for the training week, an emergency plan has recently been formulated, and desktop deductions and practical exercises have been carried out, accumulating experience for the work of the Winter Olympic Games.
