As a brigade commander, Yang Wenyu disregarded his personal safety, braving the rain of bullets and bullets to command the battle on the front line, the positions changed hands repeatedly, the casualties were heavy, and the two regimental commanders under him were heroically sacrificed, Yang Wenyu was ordered to lead the remnants to evacuate, and in 1938, the troops were replenished and returned to the battlefield.
Throughout the period of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Yang Wenhu was always one of the main forces of the Kuomintang, and he had outstanding performances in the Battle of Guinan and the Battle of Xiangxi, and was known as a tiger general who dared to fight and fight, and Chiang Kai-shek praised him many times, and naturally he also became a tool for Chiang Kai-shek to fight a civil war.
Surprisingly, Yang Wenhu also showed strong combat effectiveness in the battle with the People's Liberation Army, in May 1946, Yang Wenhu's 72nd Army was reorganized into the 72nd Division, this unit is the foundation of the Sichuan Army, Yang Wenhu did two things, and quickly stabilized the whole army.

This battle was known as the "Great Victory of Pheasant Gang", which shocked Yang Wenhu for a while, and Chiang Kai-shek commended him for his order, after which he led the 72nd Division to fight against the People's Liberation Army many times, but he was no longer so lucky, especially in the Battle of Taimeng, which made Yang Wenhu defeated.
