In the framework of cultural exchanges and cooperation along the "Belt and Road", how to take the initiative to carry out international communication and tell the Chinese story well?

Recently, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in Chile, and hosted by the Chilean Foundation, the Guangdong Academy of Painting of China, and the Chilean Mistral Cultural Center, the first online exhibition in the history of Sino-Chilean cultural exchanges, "Dialogue through Time and Space - Jose Wandaleri and Feng Shaoxie Painting Exhibition", was exhibited.

Jose Vantlerie's Chinese Edge

José Mandelle is an internationally renowned master of painting, printmaking and mural painting, who has devoted his life to expressing human, social and popular values through a variety of media: frescoes, stained glass, paintings, sculptures, illustrations, posters and stage sets. Influenced by traditional Chilean art, his works are wide-open and delicate, containing the singular vitality of the "expressionism of reality" created by the artist in the Latin American art movement.

He had forged an indissoluble relationship with China in the 1950s and used his life to build a bridge between China and Chile.

As a result of his pursuit of art, Manderry became a traveling artist, leaving his footprints in countries around the world. In Cuba, he became acquainted with Che Guevara and was commissioned by Che Guevara to create murals for Cuba, traveling frequently between Latin America, Europe and China. In 1952, Wan Tullery was invited to Beijing to attend the Asian and Pacific Regional Peace Congress, where he became the first well-known Latin American artist to visit after 1949. Unexpectedly, Wan Tu Lery stayed for eight years.

In 1953, José Vandelleri, as Deputy Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Regional Peace Conference, was stationed in Beijing and did a lot of useful work to enhance mutual understanding among the peoples of all countries, oppose wars of aggression and defend world peace. In the same year, he co-founded the Chilean-Chinese Cultural Association, the earliest non-governmental friendly organization in Latin America, together with Pablo Neruda, nobel laureate in literature, and Chilean President Salvador Allende.

Jose Vandelleri, Lushan.

José Vandellery and his family settled in Beijing for 8 years. In 1960, José Vantellery was invited to Cuba to set up a studio, and after returning to Chile from Cuba in 1965, he still visited China several times. More than 60 years later, generations of the José Vantlerie family have been driving exchanges between China and Chile.

During his time in China, Wan Tu Leli established deep friendships with artists such as Qi Baishi, Xu Beihong, Li Keyan, and poet Ai Qing. He also teaches at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, bringing fresh artistic ideas to Chinese students. At the same time, his artistic creation has also been influenced by traditional Chinese art, absorbing the techniques of Chinese ink painting, such as "Autumn of Rage", "Lushan", "Courtyard in Beijing" and other paintings, all of which absorb traditional Chinese painting techniques. Among them, "Lushan" was influenced by his artistic friend Mr. Qi Baishi, and depicts the beautiful scenery that Delia and Paz see when they look out of the window of their residence in southern China. Through The Works of Mandelle, we can see China's influence on his artistic creation and feel his deep friendship with the Chinese people.

Feng Shaoxie's humanistic care and responsibility

Feng Shaoxie is an oil painter with an international vision and humanistic care in contemporary China. Looking back at his series of creations, whether it is the socially critical "Pay attention to the Chinese cultural market" series, or the "Dove of the Middle East" group painting that focuses on the war and conflict in the Middle East, or the theme creation of "Wenchuan Mega Earthquake" that shows the dignity of life, and the later "Centennial Guangzhou" series, etc., although there are different emphases in the presentation of the subject matter, what runs through is the painter's keen observation of major events and a clear judgment of the artist's identity and social responsibility.

Artist Feng Shaoxie was born in 1964 in Puning, Guangdong. He is currently the vice president of Guangdong Academy of Painting, a national first-class artist, a member of the China Artists Association, and a member of the presidium of the Guangdong Artists Association.

Among them, the creation of the "Maritime Silk Road" exhibited in this exhibition originated in 2013. In order to respond to the "Belt and Road" initiative and find the cultural imprint of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, Feng Shaoxie devoted all his energy and painstaking efforts to the creation of the "Maritime Silk Road" large-scale oil painting series. This series of works began from the expression of the huangpu ancient port in the Qin and Han dynasties, until the beautiful prospects of the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" in the form of art, spanning more than 2,000 years; secondly, the relics reproduced in this series of works are widely distributed, from Guangzhou, Hainan Island, to Thailand, Malaysia, and then to Sri Lanka, India, and finally to Turkey, the Cape of Good Hope and even Venice, almost encompassing all the important nodes of the former maritime Silk Road, and the spatial span is unprecedented.

The appearance of this series of works has attracted the attention of the cultural and artistic circles. In 2015, Chen Lusheng, deputy director of the National Museum of China, wrote an article entitled "Remembrance of Maritime History", which pointed out that "in the history of Chinese art, paintings with maritime trade as the theme are basically sporadic, and Feng Shaoxie's series of creations with the theme of 'Maritime Silk Road' can be said to be the first systematic performance in history." ”

In fact, this is not the first time that Feng Shaoxie has had a dialogue with a Latin American artist.

In recent years, he has been committed to the "Maritime Silk Road" tour exhibition, to the world to tell the story of China, promote Chinese culture, has arrived at the National Gallery of Thailand, Malaysia Malacca Zheng He Duo Yun Xuan Art Museum, Indonesia Jakarta ASEAN headquarters, the United States New York United Nations Headquarters Secretary-General Building and other countries and regions to exhibit.
