What is even more fatal is that tens of thousands of AMERICAN troops are rushing to try to encircle and annihilate the main force of the volunteer army in one fell swoop, and at the moment of a thousand gunshots, General Peng resolutely launched the Tieyuan Blockade Battle and sent the 63rd Army to defend the Tieyuan front line to win time for the main force to retreat.
The commander of the 63rd Army was General Fu Chongbi.
In fact, before that, the 63rd Army had already experienced a shortage of food, Fu Chongbi also expected that the US army would counterattack, plus the 63rd Army was in the position of advancing deep to the south, once the enemy situation appeared, the 63rd Army was bound to take the lead, so before receiving the order from General Manager Peng, Fu Chongbi had already led the whole army to make preparations for blocking the US army.
Considering that the US military possessed powerful and modern offensive weapons, Fu Chongbi resolutely abandoned the previous defensive tactics of positions, and instead chose to take the offensive as defense, take the initiative to attack, give full play to the advantages of the volunteer army in close combat, night combat, and hand-to-hand combat, and mixed up with the US army, so that the US artillery and aircraft would have no place to play.
Despite the full preparations, the fierceness of the Tieyuan Blockade Battle was still beyond Fu Chongbi's imagination, and 28,000 volunteer soldiers fought with tens of thousands of American troops in the Tieyuan position for 13 days and nights, with more than 20,000 casualties, and the entire 63rd Army was almost exhausted, and even the commander Fu Chongbi passed out because of his serious injuries.
After the battle, Fu Chongbi was rescued in the hospital for 4 days before he woke up, and his first words after seeing Mr. Peng were still: "I want soldiers!" ”
It is said that in this short period of ten days, General Fu Chongbi once lost 25 pounds!
On the other hand, the US military did not take advantage of the Battle of Tieyuan, causing more than 20,000 casualties, and even Ridgway was condemned domestically for the heavy casualties of the troops.
In fact, in the revolutionary career of General Fu Chongbi, there are not a few examples of people who have died and survived such as the Tieyuan Blockade War.
As early as the Red Army period, once, Fu Chongbi, with more than a dozen people, was surrounded by a reactionary vigilante group, and seeing that the bullets were about to run out, Fu Chongbi's heart was crossed, and he led everyone to jump off the cliff!
Fortunately, just as he was about to land, Fu Chongbi's feet were wrapped around the tree vines and did not fall to the ground, and his head was only a mile away from the ground at that time!
At this time, the undead enemy also threw a grenade down, landing under Fu Chongbi's head, perhaps it was really a fate, this grenade did not sound!
In this way, Fu Chongbi once again picked up a life.
However, because Fu Chongbi's face hit the stone during the cliff jump, a deep wound was drawn, and this scar also followed General Fu Chongbi for the rest of his life.
Fu Chongbi has also experienced such an example of escaping from danger many times, as he said:
"I have always believed that for a revolutionary, life, time and years are not purely personal. For those of us who are committed to the revolution and have experienced many years of revolutionary war, life and death have long been put aside. ”
In 1985, at the age of 69, Fu Chongbi offered to leave the country and ceded his job to young people. General Fu Chongbi, who left his retirement, spent a lot of time on reading, saying: "In the past, there was no time to sit down and read, but after retiring, when there is enough time, we must insist on reading and studying." ”
What is more worth mentioning is that in 2001, Fu Chongbi sent his son back to his hometown of Tongjiang County, Sichuan Province, with his life savings of 200,000 yuan, all donated to the local area, asking for the construction of a Hope Primary School.
When he was seriously ill in his later years, a reporter went to interview him, and Fu Chongbi said frankly:
"Ask yourself, I have no regrets in my life, let alone ask for anything else." Now, despite my illness from time to time, I have a very full and happy day, and it should be said that this is a gift of my personal life from my revolutionary career. ”
On January 17, 2003, General Fu Chongbi died of illness at the age of 87.
