When appreciating this group of poems, there are a few points to pay attention to. The five absolutes in "Five Absolute Sentences of the Night Pan West Lake" do not mean five words and seven sentences.
Secondly, the seven words and sentences are not necessarily all near-body poems (Gelug poems), there are also many ancient poems, and Su Shi's five seven-word poems are all ancient poems.
In addition, these five sentences also use the rhetorical technique of the thimble (thimble is also known as the top truth, the bead or the winning).

1. Seven ancient words
The ancient style of the Seven Utterances is also a absolute sentence, and these five absolute sentences of Su Shi are not Gelug poems:

The number of ancient sentences of the Seven Sayings is not much, and there are few masterpieces, so it is not noticed. So much so that many people think that the seven must be Grammatical poems.
In fact, during the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai had many seven ancient sentences, such as "Yongwang East Tour Song", "Knot Socks" and so on.
Second, the thimble technique
Many people say that Su Shi's poem is modeled after Cao Zhi's "White Horse Wang Biao", cao Zhi's group of poems is five words, using the technique of thimbles, such as the end of the second chapter: I Ma Xuan huang, the beginning of the third chapter: Xuan Huang can enter. Why bother? The Mandate of Heaven letter is suspicious. Nothingness asks for immortals, matsuko hisashi deceives.
Change in Sisu, who can hold for a hundred years? Parting will never happen, when will the hand be held?
Wang Qi loves jade and enjoys the yellow hair period. Collecting tears is a long road, and the help pen has since resigned.
The thimble technique exists in the verses, such as the Daya Wen Wang's Shi. Similar masterpieces, there are Xie Lingyun's "Denglin HaiYue Chu Fa Qiang Zhongzuo and from the brother Huilian can see the sheep He Republic" and so on.
Third, the background and sustenance
In the fourth year of Xining (1071), Su Shi wrote a letter to bluntly say that the shortcomings of the new law caused Wang Anshi to be angry, so Wang Anshi asked Yushi Xiejing to impeach Su Shi.
Su Shi was also very knowledgeable, so he took the initiative to request to leave Beijing to take up a post, and Xi Ning was sent to Hangzhou for four years to serve as a general judge. Su Shi was incapable of stopping this change. Therefore, he often expressed his dissatisfaction in his poems, either implicitly or explicitly. This group of poems writes about boating at night, which more or less reminds people of the obscurity of the situation, and also shows That Su Shi's confusion about his future.
During the Southern Song Dynasty, the lyricists liked to have sustenance in the chants. Su Shi's poem "Night Moon Lake Light" also has this meaning and sustenance.
Weng Fanggang said: "The Five Absolutes of the West Lake at Night are large and capable of being truly large. This means that Su Shi writes about the real scenery he sees in his eyes, but he can also implicitly express his inner depression through the description of the scenery.
Conclusion
Song poetry is longer than argument, and Tang poetry is more charming. Su Shi's few absolute sentences were exaggerated by Weng Fanggang's praise of "empty and absolute ancients", but these seven absolute poems were written in a narrative and did not discuss, that is, the so-called "deeply rooted in the will of the wind".
However, Su Shi did not escape the disaster in the end, that is, the later Wutai poetry case. His opponents looked for words that implied irony from his poems, intending to put Su Shi to death.
