"My wounds were left over from the war." In the Duqingtang community of Liumutang Street in Lianyuan City, Hunan Province, Yin Youmu, a 93-year-old veteran, slowly recalled the War of Resistance Against Japan, the War of Liberation, and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. He said excitedly that to go to war is to fulfill the "obligation" fulfilled by the party and the motherland.

Yin Youmu, a 93-year-old veteran, recounts the battles he took part in.

As a teenager, he participated in the War of Resistance Against Japan

Yin Youmu's father died when he was one year old, and his mother took him to remarry in lantian county in hunan (renamed Lianyuan County in 1952, now Lianyuan City). On the eighteenth day of the first month of 1943, the 15-year-old Yin Youmu and his companions came to Anhua County, Hunan Province, to look for guerrillas who wanted to join the army. After three months of hard training, Yin Became a Guerrilla. Later, the guerrillas were reorganized into the Eighth Route Army, and Yin Youmu also began to participate in the War of Resistance Against Japan with the troops.

Yin Youmu's unit has successively fought in Hunan, Guizhou, Hubei and other places, and has experienced dozens of large and small battles. The troops fought the Japanese army for 42 days in Yangxi Town, Xinhua County. During a battle, Yin Youmu was grazed by a bullet on the top of his head, a small piece of his skull was cut off, and blood immediately spurted out. At that time, there was no hygienist around, Yin Youmu used his mouth to bite the clothes, tear off a few strips of cloth to bandage the wound, "the blood still can't be stopped, from the top of the head down the neck to the abdomen." After the battle was over, Yin Youmu's blood stained his clothes and body red, and the hygienist who found Yin Youmu used gauze to bandage his wounds.

"In the rain of bullets and bullets, like my comrades-in-arms, I am not afraid of sacrifice, I don't want to go home, I just want to win." When Yin Youmu recalled the past years, his pride did not diminish. In the battle of Phoenix Mountain in Jinping County, Guizhou, a bullet hit his right knee, and in the absence of anesthesia, the comrade burned the bayonet several times, and then used the bayonet to help him cut out the bullet. In order not to shout, Yin Yumu bit the towel with his teeth. The scars on his knees are still clearly visible.

In the 2 years that Yin Youmu participated in the War of Resistance Against Japan, he did not think of the word "afraid" once, and after the battle charge, there were more than 10 major injuries and minor injuries on his body. In June 1947, Yin Youmu left the army due to his wounds and illness.

In 1949, shortly after the liberation of the whole country, Yin Youmu became the commander of the armed squadron in Watting Township, Lantian County at that time.

In October 1950, the Chinese Volunteer Army went to fight in Korea. When organizing the winter conscription of the whole township, Yin Youmu, who had been injured in the war, felt that his health was much better, so he "volunteered to apply" to the instructors who had come to recruit soldiers to re-enlist, and wrote a letter of determination: "Training troops is not afraid of hardship, marching is not left behind, fighting is not afraid of death, and I am willing to shed the last drop of blood for the party and the motherland." After passing the physical examination, Yin Youmu changed from a veteran to a "new recruit" and came to the Korean battlefield.

The war was brutal, and perhaps that's why his memory was so clear. One night in 1952, on The 850 Heights, 60 kilometers from Pyongyang, enemy bunkers blocked the way for troops to advance. The group leader was killed before he could get close to the bunker with the explosives package, and then the squad leader fell under the enemy's gun. "There are only 25 minutes left before the troops launch a charge, and if you don't blow up the bunkers, you will sacrifice more comrades." Therefore, Yin Youmu, who was already the platoon leader at the time, decided to blow up the bunker himself. Under the cover of fire, Yin Youmu broke through to a distance of 50 meters from the bunker. The enemy may have sensed the danger, and the machine gun fire was even more frantic. The flares illuminated the sky like daylight, and in the gap between the flares extinguishing, Yin Youmu rushed to the bottom of the bunker, where he groped and dug a 20-centimeter-deep pit to bury the explosive package. After putting the explosive package, Yin Youmu quickly lit the fuse, and watched the fuse "nourishingly" ring for more than 10 seconds before he rolled down a slope. The bunkers blew up and the troops charged. Yin Youmu, who had rolled down the hill, slammed into the stone and was seriously injured in his right arm. For his bravery in battle, he joined the party at the front and received a second class merit and commendation.

Yin Youmu received various medals and medals.

In April 1952, during the Fifth Campaign to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, a bullet hit Yin Youmu's right chest, which was rushing forward, and the bullet was stuck between two ribs, and the pain was unbearable. Yin Youmu was seriously wounded and could not get out of the line of fire, insisting on completing the battle. Later, he went to the field hospital to remove the bullets, and in order not to delay the combat mission, he was hospitalized for more than 20 days and then returned to the army. This gunshot wound made Yin Youmu faintly painful on a rainy day. "This is to defend the family and the country, and my comrades-in-arms and I have never been afraid of every battle." In this battle, Yin Youmu was awarded the second class merit.

In 1954, Yin Youmu returned to China. In 1956, considering that Yin Youmu had multiple war wounds on his body, the army arranged for Yin Youmu to retire and return to work at the tax bureau in his hometown. Later, Yin Youmu was seconded to Longtang Township as deputy secretary, and he was always diligent and conscientious in his work.

Yin Youmu, wearing a medal in a wheelchair, constantly recalled the war-torn years, and said his message to the younger generation: "Now that it is an era of peace, young people should study hard, make new contributions in the new era, be models, learn heroes, practice their skills, and also have the spirit of sacrifice and dedication, and make their own contributions to the country and the people and to national defense construction." ”
