Recently, Mercedes-Benz invited the media to test drive its first pure electric AMG model, the EQS 53, which also marked that AMG, the symbol of the top performance car, has entered a new stage.
In the appearance part, the new car may not be high-profile because it is only a 53 model, the original part compared to the EQS 580 model, the most significant difference is that the front grille panel uses AMG's iconic longitudinal banner decoration, of course, due to the sealing characteristics of the panel itself, the longitudinal chrome strip is only decorative, and does not assume any functionality. The three-stage cutout trim in the front bumper section is the same as that of the 580 model, and is not more aggressive and sporty.
On the side of the car, the most significant difference from the 580 model is only the very inconspicuous AMG 4Matic+ logo under the A-pillar, which is very low-key. The wheel hub style is only a slight difference, and it is not easy to detect if it is not specifically proposed. The new car in the rear part of the car also did not add more exaggerated diffuser decorations in the rear bumper and so on, perhaps the AMG 53 was low-key, or it may be that the EQS model itself was quite sporty.
In the interior part, the changes of the new car are more obvious than the appearance, first of all, the style of the steering wheel is replaced by the AMG's iconic three- and nine-o'clock punch with paddle shifters and additional auxiliary screens and AMG logo of the flat bottom shape, yes, pure electric vehicles also have paddle shifters, but in terms of actual functions, it is only to adjust the kinetic energy recovery, which is a kind of atmosphere creation. In addition, the new car will cover most of the interior of the car with fur material, including most of the center console area previously decorated with leather and plastic workmanship and the entire roof. In terms of seats, the AMG-style one-piece sports style is also adopted, the wings with a strong sense of wrapping, the eye-catching metal logo and the apple tree print on the headrest further enhance the sense of combat.
Of course, as an AMG model, the most important thing is the powertrain, the new car is equipped with a front and rear dual motors as standard, the ordinary version can output a maximum power of 658 horsepower and a maximum torque of 950 Nm, on this basis there is also a Dynamic Plus suite, the maximum power is increased to 762 hp, the maximum torque of 1020 Nm, the powerful performance of the motor to the extreme. The 100-kilometer acceleration takes only 3.8 seconds and 3.4 seconds, matched by a 107.8kwh lithium battery pack, with a pure electric cruising range of up to 700km.
Thanks to the inherent advantages of the electric motor, the new car, together with the 4Matic+ electric version of the four-wheel drive system, can detect each wheel in real time 1,000 times per second, so as to distribute torque delicately, adjust the four-wheel steering, and still provide excellent handling under such a powerful power. The AMG EQS 53 is not only the first AMG pure electric vehicle, but also the first pure electric performance car in the true sense of the traditional brand, and this is only 53, and the future advanced performance version is more worth looking forward to.
