In 1995, Mercedes-Benz introduced the legendary Sprinter series. Sprinter aimed at the light commercial vehicle market in Europe and North America at that time, opening a new era for European LCCVs. In 1997, Link won the International Van of the Year Award, which was recognized by the industry. From Europe to North America to China, there are Lingte footprints everywhere. So far, Mercedes-Benz Sprint has undergone three generations of evolution.
In 2020, in order to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the release of the Mercedes-Benz Sprint model, the European modification car company Kegger and Mercedes-Benz cooperated to release a racing carrier based on the modification of the third generation of Sprinter models, and this car is also the most sophisticated and practical third-generation Linear that the author has ever seen. The design style of this third-generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter comes from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team. As a result, the vehicle uses many elements from F1 races. Its livery comes from AMG's F1 car, and its top is also built for high-performance racing models with low chassis, which is structurally many different from our common car transporters.
Let's start with the front face of the vehicle. Compared with the general version of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter model, the front face of this modified Sprint is really too ostentatious. The vehicle's original bumper was completely removed and replaced by a complete set of races with aerodynamic fins. This set of bracketing design comes from AMG, and although it does not improve much performance on a large car like Lingte, the appearance performance is full.
The front grille is sprayed with a unique metallic paint, and the front looks like it has been blackened. But when the perspective is turned to the side, it will show a beautiful metallic luster. In fact, the author does not like the design of the third generation of Lingte, which is too sleek compared to the second generation of Lingte. However, on this racing transporter, the new front surround improves this.
Protrusions for improved air flow are also visible on the front encircling sides, further enhancing the vehicle's aerodynamic performance.
The vehicle adopts a single-row cab arrangement, and the rear wall of the cab has a rear observation window to facilitate the observation of the rear situation. The entire livery design references AMG's F1 car, with blue lines separating the black and silver areas and creating a unique gradient effect. Behind the cab doors, there are also a number of Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star-style motifs. At the same time, the vehicle is sprayed with the logos of sponsors such as IWC, Pirelli and Petronas, with the 77 word number, representing the former AMG F1 team driver Bottas. Unfortunately, Bottas has been transferred to the Alfa Romeo team, partnered with Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu.
Wearing an F1 livery, how to do it if the power is not strong? This specially modified Sprint racing carrier uses a 3.0T displacement Mercedes-Benz OM 642 diesel engine with 190 horsepower, and is also the most powerful engine available in the Short model, with an enhanced Version of the Mercedes-Benz 7G-TRONIC PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission, and also with an adjustable air suspension system for good performance in terms of power, sportiness and comfort.
After looking at the design, let's take a look at the design of the top. The design goal of this car is to carry sports cars, racing cars, etc., these cars have a lower chassis, in order to allow them to get on the car without bumping, Kegger will design the ramp area of the alloy tail of the super long, so that the low chassis vehicle can also get on the car normally. To assist the vehicle in getting on the bus, Kegger designed a winch at the front of the bodywork, capable of dragging up to 3.5 tons of vehicles.
To push the visuals to the extreme, Kegger designed a fully enclosed side skirt for the Sprinter, with a large storage box and a 91-liter diesel tank and a urea tank inside. Not only is the visual effect superior, but the overall layout is also more orderly and more in line with its high-end attributes.
The design on the right side of the vehicle is the same, also a fully enclosed side skirt with a unique livery and 77 car number, and hidden alloy storage boxes and other equipment. The vehicle was also fitted with 18-inch forged wheels with AMG-style blue-green trim strips to further enhance visual performance.
The rear is designed with an integral bumper and the plate holder is placed next to the left tail light. The taillights, including the marker lights, are led, and the trailer hook and tail camera are also designed to improve safety and visibility.
Kegger also designed the rear bottom diffuser for this Sprinter, and adopted a black rectangular exhaust tail tail with a total of four sides, which was very Mercedes-Benz AMG style from design to manufacturing.
How do you load the vehicle you're going to carry? It's actually quite simple. Pull out the tail plate hidden in the middle of the jacket and let the car drive itself or pull it up with a winch. Kegger designed an extended 1.4-meter tail plate for the vehicle to make it easier to load on low-chassis vehicles. After pulling it up, flip up the top mounted wheel gear.
The interior part of the vehicle is even more stunning. On the basis of the third generation of Mercedes-Benz Sprint, Kegger has covered the interior with full leather + Alcantara, and uses hand stitching, full of detail and luxury.
Pocket gear + multi-function steering wheel + central control screen, the overall design is very biased towards passenger cars. Kegger has also added acoustics to the cab and interior of the doors to further enhance comfort.
This unique Mercedes-Benz Sprint racing carrier is limited to 25 units. Launched in November 2020, it was sold out in a short time. If you're impressed with this car, sorry, you're disappointed.
