New Century Optoelectronics v. Apple for infringement of 9 patents claimed NT$210 million

Jiwei Network news, LED packaging factory New Century Optoelectronics issued an announcement today (20) that the company has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Apple in the Intellectual Property Court of the Intellectual Property and Commercial Court in Taiwan, requesting Apple to stop the infringement and compensate NT$210 million.

It is understood that New Century Optoelectronics pointed out in the litigation documents that Apple's iPad Pro series products infringed 9 LED patents involving LED overmolding packaging, white light chip scale packaging, Mini LED package, Mini LED backlight module and so on.

Chen Cheng-Chuan, CEO of New Century Optoelectronics, said: "Manufacturers in the market who copy and invest heavily in capital, such as selectively ignoring intellectual property rights for profit, will hurt innovative enterprises and stifle small enterprises committed to innovation from having the resources to continue to invest in innovation."

According to public information, New Century Optoelectronics was founded in 2002, and the company continues to accumulate 20 years of experience in GaN semiconductor technology and integration capabilities, including epitaxial, flip chip, chip size package (CSP), mini LED, micro LED, automotive lighting and the recent successful development of GaN on sapphire power components.
