Chen Hanyuan was born in 1936 in Yueqing County, Zhejiang Province, graduated from the Department of Chinese of East China Normal University in 1961, and served as the editor-in-chief of CCTV, the deputy director of CCTV, and the president of the Documentary Academic Committee of the China Television Association.
Chen Hanyuan has participated in the planning and production of many works loved by audiences, including TV documentaries such as "Talking about the Yangtze River" and "Talking about the Canal", the theme song lyrics of the TV series "Tang Minghuang", "Wu Zetian", "Thunderstorm", etc., and the reportage "Sculptor Liu Huanzhang". Among them, the explanatory words of "Rent Collection Courtyard" and the 8th episode of "Talking about the Yangtze River", "From Yibin to Chongqing", were selected as primary and secondary school language textbooks.
In 2000, Chen Hanyuan was awarded the "Contribution Award for Overseas Dissemination of Chinese Art" by the Organizing Committee of the 21st Century Arts Festival in Budapest.
