Chen Hanyuan, former deputy director of CCTV, passed away and participated in the creation of "Talking about the Yangtze River" and "Beijingers in New York"

Mr. Chen Hanyuan, a famous television artist, former deputy director of CCTV, honorary president of the Documentary Academic Committee of the China Television Artists Association, and leader of Chinese documentary films, died in Beijing at 3:16 a.m. on December 20, 2021 due to illness at the age of 85.

Introduction to the life of Mr. Chen Hanyuan

Chen Hanyuan, a native of Zhejiang, was born in 1936. He graduated from the Department of Chinese of East China Normal University in Shanghai in 1961 and joined CCTV as an editor in the same year. He was appointed Senior Editor in 1985. In 1992, he began to enjoy the special allowance of the State Council. He is a member of the Chinese Writers Association.

During his 36 years of work, he has participated in the creation of TV documentaries and TV series. Representative works include "Rent Collection Courtyard", "Talking about the Yangtze River", "Talking about the Canal", "Beijingers in New York", "The Sky is On", "Holding Hands" and so on. At the same time, he wrote theme songs for TV series "Wu Zetian", "Tang Ming Emperor", "Thunderstorm" and so on. Curated and created several TV commercials. The explanatory words of the works "Rent Collection Courtyard" and "Talking about the Yangtze River" episode 8 "From Yibin to Chongqing" were selected as primary and secondary school language textbooks.

He once served as the director of the special topic department, social education department and editor-in-chief office of CCTV, deputy editor-in-chief, deputy director of the station, and deputy director of the China Television Drama Production Center.

He once served as the deputy director of the Film and Television Literature Committee of the China Writers Association, the president and honorary president of the Documentary Academic Committee of the China Television Association, and the executive vice president of Hong Kong Sunshine Culture television Co., Ltd.
