According to reports, at 4:30 on November 24, 2020, China successfully launched the Chang'e-5 probe at the Wenchang Cosmodrome with the Long March 5 Yaowu carrier rocket. Lasting 23 days, on December 17, 2020, the Chang'e-5 returner successfully returned to The Earth carrying 1731 grams of lunar samples, marking the perfect end of China's lunar exploration project "around, falling, back" three-step strategy.

The Chang'e-5 probe has been in orbit for 388 days, bringing back 1731 grams of lunar samples and 131.5GB of scientific exploration data.

Up to now, the China National Space Administration has released information on three batches of 83 lunar samples on the scientific data and sample release system for lunar and deep space exploration, and received a total of 589 loan applications.

The lunar samples brought back by Chang'e 5 are not only used for scientific research, but also some of them are used as public welfare samples for open public exhibitions. The National Museum, the Party History Exhibition Hall, the 4.24 Nanjing Space Day, and the Jiangsu Wuxi Deep Space and Deep Sea Major Science and Technology Exhibition all have Chang'e-5 public welfare samples on display.
