Temperature testing
Hair straighteners mainly use the heat of the heating panel to make the hair straight or curly, the temperature is too low to achieve the ideal straight hair and curl effect, too high temperature may cause irreversible thermal damage to the hair scales, but also make the dyed hair produce a certain degree of fading. At the same time, the uniformity of the temperature of the heating panel also has a certain impact on the overall effect of straight hair curl style.
By preheating the hair straightener samples to a constant temperature state, selecting three measurement points on the surface of the heating panel for temperature measurement comparison, it was found that the difference between the measured maximum temperature of the 20 samples and the maximum temperature of the product nominal ranged from 0.3 °C to 21.6 °C, the measured maximum temperature difference between samples reached 55.7 °C, and the difference in temperature uniformity of the surface temperature of the heating panel was 2.1 °C-16.9 °C.

In this comparative test, under the temperature conditions of 180±10 °C, the Asian natural hair slices were straightened, and the straight hair effect was evaluated by the gloss test, and the greater the gloss change rate, the better the gloss improvement effect, that is, the better the straight hair effect.
After testing, 20 samples can improve the gloss of the hair piece to varying degrees. Among them, the gloss change rate of the Rewa hair straightener is only 7%. The temperature test data of the control sample heating panel found that the maximum temperature of the sample heating panel was 193.6 °C, and its heating performance and operating temperature were low, which affected the direct hair effect.

The comparative test also used a unified operating method and force to roll the hair pieces under the temperature conditions of 200-210 °C, and the experts visually evaluated the curvature, fluffy effect and gloss of the curls at five time points of instant, 15 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours and 24 hours.

Among the 20 samples, the lowest comprehensive score of curl effect was the Golden Rice Hair Straightener, whose heating panel temperature was also the lowest among all samples, and did not reach the suitable temperature range for the operation of the curl function (180-220 °C).

In this comparative test, 20 samples were used to straighten the new hair pieces twice, and then the surface morphology of the hair was magnified by scanning electron microscopy by 1000 times to assess the damage to hair quality using a hair straightener.
It was observed that after using 20 samples, the degree of hair damage of the relevant hair pieces was significantly different. The test found that the choice of heating panel material also affects the degree of thermal damage, such as the heating panel of dyson hair straightener using double-coated manganese copper alloy material, which has less damage to the hair after heating.
