However, mercury is a double-edged sword, which can not only prevent the flesh from decaying, but also produce a large number of toxins, through the skin, digestive tract or respiratory tract into the human body, thereby destroying the central nervous system. Qin Shi Huang made full use of the toxicity of mercury to prevent his tomb from being stolen, and once the long-closed mausoleum was opened, a large amount of oxidized mercury present in the air would destroy the human body and kill people in an instant. This is why the imperial tomb has not been opened.
So the question is, the scale of the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang is so grand, how much mercury must be infused to form a poison gas mausoleum? In fact, we can see the hint from the pomegranate trees growing on the top of the Imperial Tomb Mountain. Pomegranate trees can generally grow to about 4 to 5 meters, but the pomegranate trees here not only grow slowly, but also contain a lot of toxins in the fruit, and it is strictly forbidden to pick such fruits in the scenic area. The height of the imperial tomb coupled with the height of the mountain, hundreds of meters are more than a few meters, if there is no large amount of mercury to play a role, it can not affect the pomegranate tree at the top of the mountain.
