Recently, after watching a program, it probably means that southerners do not fight or brag on the streets, but resist foreign tribes but never surrender, and northerners are the opposite. In fact, this sentence is very problematic, whether it is the Ming and Qing wars or the War of Resistance, the degree of resistance in the north is very high.
We take the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression as an example, 1.89 million in Henan, 880,000 in Shaanxi, and 380,000 in Gansu, and this is only the number of personnel who joined the Nationalist army. More people in the occupied areas of the north joined the Eighth Route Army and the guerrillas. In Shandong, from October 1937, the Japanese 10th Division invaded Shandong until December 1945, when the Japanese army in Shandong officially surrendered.
In Shandong, 26,000 battles against the enemy were fought, a base area of 24 million people was established, the main force of the Eighth Route Army grew to 270,000 people, and the guerrillas and militias reached more than 710,000. By August 1945, the Eighth Route Army had grown to 900,000 people, establishing a liberated area of 2.46 million square kilometers with a population of 100 million.
In the course of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Eighth Route Army also developed 2 million militias and guerrilla units in the northern region, launched extensive guerrilla groups, carried out anti-encroachment, anti-blockade, and anti-sweeping, smashed the "three lights" policy of the Japanese army, and played a huge role in the battle to consolidate and develop the anti-Japanese base areas.
At the same time, 10 million self-defense units, including women, teenagers, middle-aged and elderly men, were mobilized to engage in logistics, reconnaissance, sentry, production mutual assistance and so on.
Even in the Ming and Qing wars, the main battles between the Qing army and the Ming army took place in the north. It was precisely because the Qing army annihilated the main force of the Ming army after many years of bloody battles in the north that it was able to unify the whole country. If there is no Qing army to defeat the northern border army of the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty will not have a unified strength at all, and there will be no later Qing army crossing the river to the south.
After the Qing army went south, the main resistance forces also included a large number of northern Ming troops that retreated to the south, including Li Dingguo, Sun Kewang, Jin Shengheng, Li Chengdong, Tian Jianxiu, Zhang Nai, Yuan Zongdi, Liu Fangliang, Liu Tichun, Wu Ruyi, Hao Wanqi, Wang Jincai, Niu Wancai, and so on.
It was the hundreds of thousands of Dashun army, the Great Western Army, and anyway troops from the north that effectively supported the Southern Ming Anti-Qing War for more than ten years. Moreover, the degree of resistance of the northern anti-Qing movement was equally fierce, and the defense war carried out by Jiang Zhi in Datong was far more brutal than the Ten Days of Yangzhou.
The Qing army dispatched 4 princes and almost all the main forces, and engaged in a brutal war with Jiang Zhi in Datong for 9 months before finally capturing Datong. The intensity of the resistance is far from being comparable to that of Yangzhou, which has only persisted for 2 or 3 days. In the face of foreign enemies, both southerners and northerners have made all their efforts, and there is no need to hold one up and downplay one.
