Sanxingdui is the Sanxingdui site, located on the south bank of the Yazi River in the northwest of Guanghan City, Sichuan Province, and is a group of sites composed of ancient cultural sites. The sanxingdui site was discovered in 1929 by a farmer named Yan Daocheng, who is rumored to have stumbled upon a pit of jade tools while doing farm work. Due to the social unrest at that time, the government could not take care of the excavation of the Sanxingdui site, so after the first excavation in 1934, the excavation fell into a long-term stagnation.

After the founding of New China in 1949, the national situation began to stabilize, and the archaeological work of Sanxingdui began to resume in 1950, which was only a small-scale excavation at this time, until the 1980s and 1990s, when the Sanxingdui site began to usher in a period of large-scale excavation, the excavation time was as long as 40 years, and to this day, the excavation work is still in progress. Sanxingdui has a distribution area of about 12 square kilometers, which has a history of 5,000 to 3,000 years, and is the largest, longest-lasting and culturally rich ancient site found in southwest China. The Sanxingdui site is known as one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of mankind in the 20th century, and its discovery shows that it is the birthplace of Chinese civilization like the Yangtze River Basin and the Yellow River Basin, and is known as the "source of Yangtze River civilization".
