The 5th Chengdu International Poetry Week 2021 will be held in Chengdu from December 17 to 21. On December 17th, many outstanding poets will gather in Chengdu for this winter poetry journey. Chengdu International Poetry Week has been successfully held for four sessions, once a year, and each session designs a theme. The theme of the first session was "Poetry and the City of Light"; the theme of the second session was "Chengdu and Paris Poetry Twin Cities"; the third session was "The Community of Human Destiny Constructed by Poetry"; the fourth session was "Our Common Planet, Witnessing the Warmth and Power of Poetry". The 5th Chengdu International Poetry Week 2021 will carry out exchanges and interactions around the theme of "Li Bai and Du Fu in World Time", highlighting the relationship between Li Bai Du Fu and Chengdu.
The theme of this year's Poetry Week, "Li Bai and Du Fu in World Time", is also a poem in itself. It is very appropriate to set these two poets, who have deep ties to Chengdu, as the theme. These two figures, both in the traditional and modern sense of poetry, carry a deep weight. The greatness of Li Bai and Du Fu has a lot to do with the high connection between their works and the times. Their poems are the artistic representation of what they thought and thought in their own time. Today, we stand in this era, and poetry writing also has a new era-oriented topic: how to make works worthy of the times and worthy of life. Due to the epidemic prevention and control factors, most of the foreign poets attending the meeting participated in the online video, sending their poems and good wishes to Chengdu through video. Online poets include Chilean poet Oscar Savidra Villaroel, Scottish poet Gerry Luz, Russian poet Vadim Teryohin, Belgian poet Jerman Zogenbrutt, Australian poet Les Wicks, American poet Bill Wallik, Swedish poet Bentberg and others. The foreign poets who came to the meeting were poets who had worked and lived in China for a long time. For example, the Argentine poet Guillermo Bravo, the Russian poet Irina, Anna and Tang Xilan, and the Colombian poet Li Ge, who has worked and lived in China for many years and first taught at Sichuan University, the American poet Kang Shuya.
