Du Ding was originally a high-achieving student at Wuhan University, with a very prominent birth, and his father was a rich man who could count the local names, so Du Ding was a standard rich second generation. But Du Ding did not care about the life of jinyi and jade food, his dream was to fight in the army and make meritorious achievements, so Du Ding went south to Guangzhou under the introduction of his family and was admitted to the sixth phase of Huangpu.
Du Ding's achievements in the military academy were very good, plus he had a background, so he was quickly appreciated by the Kuomintang high-level officials, including Chiang Kai-shek, and many people wanted to recruit him as a dragon-riding son-in-law, so Du Ding's career was very smooth.
Moreover, Du Ding himself was also very capable, he shined during the anti-Japanese period, and whenever he encountered a critical war, he would personally go to the front line to boost morale. Du Ding was present in such famous battles as the Battle of Taierzhuang and the Battle of Changsha, and he was also the deputy of the famous general Wang Yaowu, and he did not have enough military talent to sit in this position.
Later, Du Ding's eldest son married the daughter of Li Zongren, a tycoon of the Gui clan, so that Du Ding and Li Zongren formed a family relationship, Li Zongren was a prominent figure in the history of the Republic of China, and later he was able to oust Chiang Kai-shek from power and become the acting president of the Republic of China. Interestingly, it is reasonable to say that Du Ding belongs to Li Zongren's camp, but after Li Zongren himself was unable to guarantee that he would leave his hometown, Chiang Kai-shek still reused Du Ding, which also confirmed Du Ding's ability from the side.
Chiang Kai-shek eventually lost the War of Liberation and could only choose to retreat to the isolated island, at which point Du Ding and Bai Chongxi first withdrew to Guangxi and then fled to Taiwan. In the process of breaking through, Du Ding's commander Liu Jiashu was captured by our army, but he was able to command the remaining remnants of the army to break out of the siege and finally successfully fled to Taiwan.
In Taiwan, Du Ding was appreciated by Chiang Kai-shek, and his status rose again and again, and he became the vice minister of national defense and national defense adviser at the highest level, and he can also be regarded as the highest-ranking graduate of the Huangpu Six. Because Du Ding was also a long-lived person, he did not die until 2003, living for 97 years.
